Pennsylvania Man on Trial for Alleged Murder, Anti-Government Video

A Pennsylvania man is set to stand trial next week, facing charges that involve the murder of his father and broadcasting a gruesome video online, while urging others to join him in opposing the US government.

Justin D. Mohn, 33, is accused of killing Michael F. Mohn in 2024 at their shared residence in Levittown, where they lived with Justin's mother. The trial is scheduled to begin on Monday in the Philadelphia suburbs.

Reports indicate that Justin Mohn fatally shot his father using a recently acquired pistol before decapitating him with a kitchen knife and machete. The authorities were alerted when Justin's mother found Michael Mohn's body in the bathroom.

The shocking video, which was uploaded to YouTube and ran for 14 minutes, featured anti-government rhetoric. Prosecutors disclosed that the video was available online for several hours before it was taken down.

Mohn reportedly attempted to incite soldiers at Fort Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania's National Guard headquarters, in a plan involving the state's forces to oppose the federal government, according to Bucks County District Attorney Jennifer Schorn.

During his arrest, Mohn was found with a handgun, a USB device containing photographs of federal buildings, and guides for creating explosives. His online writings had displayed violent rhetoric aimed at immigration, fiscal policies, urban crime, and the war in Ukraine.

Justin Mohn's defense attorney, Steven M. Jones, mentioned that a plea deal is not anticipated in this case.

Michael Mohn, 68, served as an engineer in the geoenvironmental section of the US Army Corps of Engineers. Justin Mohn's video labeled his father, a long-time federal employee, as a traitor.

Last year, during a competency hearing, evidence was presented that Justin Mohn wrote to Russia’s US ambassador, seeking asylum and apologizing to President Vladimir Putin for his delusional claim of being the czar of Russia.
