Palestinian Stabs Two Guests at Hotel Near Jerusalem in Militant Attack

Jerusalem, Sep 12 (AP): A Palestinian hotel employee on Friday stabbed two guests at an establishment near Jerusalem in what Israeli authorities are calling a militant assault, marking the second such attack in the vicinity this week.

According to law enforcement, the perpetrator emerged from the kitchen area at a hotel in the serene setting of Kibbutz Tzuba and proceeded to attack two guests in the dining room.

An off-duty police officer and the hotel's dining manager subdued the attacker until additional officers arrived to make the arrest.

Israeli paramedics transported two male victims, aged about 50 and 25, to a nearby hospital. The older victim suffered severe injuries after being stabbed in the torso and was reported in critical condition.

Police identified the suspect as originating from the Shuafat neighborhood in east Jerusalem, and they have detained three additional individuals under suspicion of involvement in the incident.

This incident follows closely on the heels of a shooting attack earlier this week carried out by two Palestinians from the Israeli-occupied West Bank, resulting in six fatalities in Jerusalem. The militant organization Hamas, which governs Gaza, has claimed responsibility for Monday’s attack.

The ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict in Gaza has resulted in the deaths of tens of thousands of Palestinians and has heightened violence in both Israel and the occupied West Bank. (AP)
