Now, Seoul fires three air-to-ground missiles in response to North Korea

Hours after North Korea fired three short range ballistic missiles prompting a rare air raid warning for a South Korean island, Seoul has now responded to Pyongyang's 'provocation' by launching 3 air-to-surface missiles into the sea.

South Korea's military said Wednesday it had fired three precision air-to-ground missiles near the spot on the maritime border where a North Korean ballistic missile landed earlier in the day.

The missiles were fired into waters "near the Northern Limit Line at a distance corresponding to the area where the North Korean missile struck," it said in a statement, adding the exercise showed Seoul would respond "sternly to any provocations".

Earlier in the day, Seoul had claimed that North Korea has fired 10 missiles, one of which landed really close to the South Korean waters.

Following which an air raid warning was issued for the island of Ulleungdo, JCS said, which was flashed on national television and told residents to "evacuate to the nearest underground shelter".
