Nijjar killing: Did one of accused come to Canada on study permit? Report reveals startling details

One of the suspects accused of killing Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar is believed to have entered Canada using a study permit that reportedly took him only days to obtain.

According to GlobalNews outlet, a 2019 Facebook video of Karan Brar has surfaced in which he says his study visa has arrived, while a photo shows him holding up what appears to be a passport with a Canadian study permit inside.

It was reported on Wednesday that the video was posted by EthicWorks Immigration Services, which is an immigration firm. However, the post now appears to have been deleted.

A separate Facebook page that appears to belong to Brar said that he began studying at Bow Valley College in Calgary on April 30, 2020, and moved to Edmonton on May 4, 2020.

According to GlobalNews outlet, a college spokesperson confirmed that Karan Brar was enrolled in the Hospital Unit Clerk program in 2020. The program spans eight months, raising questions about why he remained in Canada years later.

The report comes days after Canadian Immigration Minister Marc Miller refused to confirm whether the three Indians arrested for killing Nijjar arrived in Canada on a student visa.

Brar, 22, was arrested in Edmonton on Friday, along with Kamalpreet Singh, 22 and Karanpreet Singh, 28. They appeared in court in Surrey, B.C. on Tuesday to face murder and conspiracy charges.

Two of them allegedly shot Nijjar in the parking lot of Surrey’s Guru Nanak Sikh Temple on June 18, 2023, while the other drove the getaway car.
