Nepal plane crash recorded by passenger? Window view, then screams, fire break out in unverified clip

The devastating plane crash in Nepal which killed over 65 people was apparently caught on camera by one of the passengers.

An unverified video doing the rounds on social media shows a passenger recording the view outside his window before showing the interior of the plane. Just then, people start screaming, and a few seconds later, a major fire covers the camera's view.

The Kathmandu-to-Pokhara Yeti Airlines flight crashed on 15 January 2023 while attempting to land.

It was carrying 68 passengers including 15 foreign nationals, as well as four crew members, Nepal's Civil Aviation Authority said in a statement. The foreigners included five Indians, four Russians, two South Koreans, and one each from Ireland, Australia, Argentina and France.

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, who rushed to Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu after the crash, set up a panel to investigate the accident.

”The incident was tragic. The full force of the Nepali army, police has been deployed for rescue," he said.
