London: flight passengers scared by big sign near Gatwick airport saying 'welcome to Luton'. Watch why

This sign near the London Gatwick airport in the UK is scaring fliers. The large "Welcome To Luton" sign put up on the side of the road is meant to scare arriving passengers into thinking that they have reached the wrong airport.

This was claimed in a widely shared Twitter post. The sign is clearly visible from a plane about to land at the Gatwick airport. The sign makes people think that they are about to land at the London Luton airport which is northwest of London, even though they were slated to land at Gatwick which is in the south.

The prank is similar to the one seen in Australia in June 2021. A sign saying "Welcome to Perth" had been painted in large letters on the roof of a building in Sydney. The sign was meant as a prank to make passengers think they arrived in the wrong Australian city.
