Washington/Singapore, August 15 (PTI) — Neighbours and global partners of India conveyed their heartfelt greetings to New Delhi on the occasion of its 79th Independence Day on Friday, while reaffirming robust bilateral ties with the nation.

Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu extended his felicitations to President Droupadi Murmu, emphasizing that "India has always been a trusted development partner of the Maldives." He conveyed his deep appreciation for the increase in high-level exchanges and people-to-people interactions between their countries. "This underscores the strong cooperation we have built," Muizzu shared via social media on Friday.

On behalf of the United States, Secretary of State Marco Rubio offered congratulations and warm wishes to India on Independence Day. He highlighted the "historic relationship" between New Delhi and Washington as being "consequential and far-reaching." Rubio emphasized that India and the United States, "working together," will tackle modern challenges and ensure a brighter future for both nations. He stated that the countries are united by "our shared vision for a more peaceful, prosperous, and secure Indo-Pacific region." The partnership spans various industries, promotes innovation, advances critical and emerging technologies, and extends into space.

Singapore's Minister for Foreign Affairs, Vivian Balakrishnan, also conveyed congratulations to India, highlighting the strong bilateral ties between the two nations. "Congratulations to India on your 79th Independence Day. Our meeting earlier this week underscored the strength of our ties. We celebrate 60 years of diplomatic relations," he posted on social media.

Nepalese Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba passed on her well wishes to her Indian counterpart, S. Jaishankar, expressing that Nepal deeply values its longstanding and enduring partnership with India. "On this Independence Day, we wish the people of India continued prosperity, unity, and harmony," Deuba stated. "May India remain a shining example of democracy, inspiring countries around the world," she posted on social media on Friday. (
