Landslide sweeps away 2 buses in Nepal, over 60 people missing

More than 60 people are believed to be missing after two buses were swept away by a landslide and pushed into a swollen river in Nepal on Friday.

The landslide occurred at Madan-Ashrit Highway, pushing the buses full of passengers down to the Trishuli river.

A search and rescue operation was initiated following the incident.

Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda expressed grief over the incident.

"I am deeply saddened by the reports of about five dozen passengers that are missing when bus was washed away by a landslide on the Narayangadh- Muglin road section and the loss of properties due to floods and landslides in different parts of the country. I direct all agencies of the government, including the home administration, to search and effectively rescue the passengers," said the PM on X.
