Israel-Hamas war: 'Fauda' actor Idan Amedi injured in combat in Gaza

Idan Amedi, who rose to fame for starring as an elite solider in the iconic Israeli series “Fauda”, got "severely injured" during ground operations against the Hamas group in the besieged Gaza City.

"Idan Amedi, one of Fauda's actors, has been seriously injured in a battle in Gaza. We pray and pray for your speedy recovery," Israeli diplomat Avia Levi shared the news on social media X on Monday.

According to the Times of Israel newspaper, Amedia was airlifted to a hospital on Monday and is said to be undergoing treatment.

Amedi's father confirmed to the Walla news site that his son’s life was no longer in danger, while the actor’s cousin Ayelet in an Instagram post asked the public to pray for his recovery.

Amedi, who was serving in the Combat Engineering Corps when he was injured, was reportedly admitted to Sheba Medical Center in Ramat Gan around 4 pm (local time) on Monday. Local media reported that he underwent "urgent, serious and lengthy surgery".

Shortly before he was wounded, Amedi was interviewed in Gaza by an Israeli television reporter, who he told he was “a little tired, but fine”, Times of Israel reported.

“It’s weird to see you here [amid the fighting in Gaza]. You suddenly feel so clean to me, I don’t know how to act with this,” Amedi was seen joking with the Channel 12 news correspondent.

Amedi then turned to the camera said, “We are working hard for everyone’s security. We really love you.”

Reuters news agency, quoting sources, reported that around 300,000 reservists have been drafted into the IDF, bracing for a long haul.

Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken is in Israel for high-stakes talks with top government officials on Tuesday to push them to better protect civilians and allow in more desperately needed aid as the war in Gaza shifts to a new phase, CNN reported.
