Iranian Judge Ehsum Bagheri Fatally Stabbed in Shiraz

A judge was fatally stabbed on his route to work in Shiraz, a city in southern Iran, on Tuesday morning, as reported by state media. The official IRNA news agency characterized the killing as a "terrorist act," stating that two unidentified attackers remain at large. The judge has been identified as Ehsum Bagheri, a 38-year-old affiliated with the city's judicial department. Bagheri previously served as a prosecutor in the revolutionary court, known for handling security and drug smuggling cases. No organization has yet claimed responsibility for this brutal act. Iran has a history of judges being targeted; earlier this year in January, two prominent hard-line judges in Tehran were shot dead by a man, allegedly due to their involvement in the mass execution of dissidents during the 1980s.
