Iran Executes Third Individual Accused of Spying for Israel Amidst Rising Tensions

Dubai, June 23 (AP) – On Monday, Iran carried out the execution of a third individual accused of acting as a spy for Israel's Mossad intelligence service amidst the ongoing conflict between Israel and the Islamic Republic. Activists express growing concerns over the potential for more executions in Iran, particularly in light of a recent edict from the theocratic government demanding that those involved in espionage turn themselves in before a set deadline. The judiciary's media outlet, Mizan news agency, named the executed individual as Mohammad Amin Mahdavi Shayesteh. Amnesty International had previously highlighted Shayesteh's case, noting that he was detained in Ghezal Hesar prison located in Iran's Alborz province. Just a day earlier, on Sunday, Iran executed another man, Majid Mossayebi, whose arrest and charges only surfaced following his execution. The first among this series of executions took place on June 16, with Esmail Fekri being hanged. (AP) NSA NSA
