Iran Reports Over 1,000 Deaths in Conflict with Israel

Dubai, July 8 (AP) Iran's government has announced a new death toll from its recent conflict with Israel, reporting at least 1,060 fatalities and cautioning that the number could increase.

Saeed Ohadi, head of Iran's Foundation of Martyrs and Veterans Affairs, provided these figures in an interview broadcast on Iranian state television late Monday.

Ohadi warned that the death toll might rise to 1,100 due to the severity of some injuries sustained during the conflict.

In the course of the war, Iran minimized the impact of Israel's 12-day bombing campaign, which severely compromised its air defenses, destroyed military sites, and damaged nuclear facilities. Following the ceasefire, Iran has slowly started to reveal the extent of the damage, though it has yet to disclose the total loss of military equipment.

The Washington-based Human Rights Activists group, known for its detailed casualty reports from multiple Iranian unrest incidents, claims that 1,190 people were killed, including 436 civilians and 435 security force members. The group also reported that 4,475 people were wounded in the attacks.
