Seven Indian workers have been recognized by Singapore's Ministry of Manpower (MOM) for their heroism in rescuing a driver from a sinkhole incident, as reported by Channel News Asia on Monday. The sinkhole emerged on Tanjong Katong Road South in the city-state on Saturday.

The quick-thinking migrant workers - Pitchai Udaiyappan Subbiah, Velmurugan, Saravanan, Veerasekar, Ajithkumar, Chandrisekaran, and Rajendran - sprang into action, pulling the driver to safety after her vehicle was trapped. In appreciation of their bravery, each worker was awarded an "MOM Ace coin" by the Minister of State for Manpower, Dinesh Vasu Dash, on Sunday. Addressing the workers at their dormitory after their workday, Dinesh highlighted their exemplary act of valor.

"I think this is a very good example of how our migrant workers help society in general," he said in a Facebook video. "All of them have in their own ways leaned forward to support the lady who was in need, making a significant difference to a situation that could have been vastly different," he added. He further expressed his gratitude for the workers' contributions to Singapore, not only in its progress but also in promoting a more gracious society through their selfless acts.
