Here's why Japanese flight failed to drop passengers at destination

More than 300 passengers of a Japanese domestic flight were sent back to the departure airport after narrowly missing the curfew timing of the arrival airport, turning a 2-hour trip into a 7-hour ordeal

This after a 90-minute delayed take-off of Japan Airlines flight JL331 from Tokyo's Haneda Airport on February 19.

As the flight approached Fukuoka Airport, it was denied landing permission for missing the airport's 10 pm deadline for commercial aircraft.

The plane was then directed to an airport 450 kms away from the initial destination but on not finding sufficient accommodation and transportation for over 300 passengers there, the pilots took to the skies again in the early hours of February 20 and landed back at Haneda airport, almost 7 hours after the plane took-off from there.

Later, the passengers were reportedly offered a replacement flight by the airline, which also paid for their hotels and taxis.
