A vegetable called hop shoots is trending online for its exorbitant price. It apparently costs Rs 85,000 per kg and is known for its medicinal properties.

The vegetable as a per a social media post is usually not cultivated in India and is largely popular in European countries.

Referred to as world's most expensive vegetable, hop shoots has left netizens baffling as many wonder about its health benefits.

The viral post claims that hop shoots is used to treat anxiety, sleeping disorders, restlessness among many other conditions.

Hopshoots are scientifically known as Humulus Lupulus, a climber plant that grows perenially. An IndiaTimes report claimed that the plant originates from Europe and North America, and it was initially considered as weed.

The plant grows to upto 6 metres and has a life span of up to 20 years.
