Six Killed in Gun Attack on Passenger Vehicle in Kurram, Pakistan

Peshawar, Sep 3 (PTI) – In a tragic incident in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, at least six individuals lost their lives when unidentified attackers opened fire on a passenger vehicle on Wednesday. The local police reported the attack.

The vehicle, on its route from Daradar to Sadda, was ambushed by suspected militants near Mahora in the lower Kurram district, which is adjacent to the Afghan border.

Following the attack, the assailants fled the scene, and authorities are yet to identify the victims. The deceased have been taken to the District Headquarters Hospital, the police noted. No group has claimed responsibility for this assault as of now.

In a related incident, a day earlier, security forces thwarted a terrorist attack in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, leading to the deaths of six soldiers and five militants. According to the army, the attack happened in Bannu district, where militants from the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) attempted to breach the Federal Constabulary (FC) headquarters by driving an explosive-laden vehicle into its perimeter wall.

Since the TTP’s ceasefire with the government ended in November 2022, Pakistan has experienced a rise in terror-related incidents, with the group vowing to escalate its attacks.
