Washington/Moscow, Aug 15 (PTI) - Global leaders and neighboring countries extended their warm greetings to India on the occasion of its 79th Independence Day, reaffirming strong bilateral ties with the country.

Russian President Vladimir Putin lauded India's well-deserved authority in global affairs in his Independence Day messages to President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also emphasized Russia's commitment to fortifying its "special privileged strategic partnership" with India, expressing confidence in further comprehensive bilateral cooperation through joint efforts.

French President Emmanuel Macron congratulated India and reminisced Prime Minister Modi’s visit to France in February. "Warm congratulations to the people of India on your 79th Independence Day! I fondly recall welcoming my friend Narendra Modi to France and look forward to deepening our strategic partnership towards 2047 and beyond," Macron shared on social media.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wished “dear friend” Narendra Modi and the people of India on the occasion, noting the strong bond between the two proud democracies. “Our nations have achieved much together, and the best chapters of our partnership still lie ahead,” said the Office of the Israeli Prime Minister.

Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed commitment to strengthening their comprehensive partnership with India and promoting global peace, security, and prosperity in their warm Independence Day greetings.

The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs congratulated India warmly, expressing Tehran's determination to enhance bilateral relations and cooperation based on mutual respect and common interests.

Vijitha Herath, Sri Lanka's Minister of Foreign Affairs, also extended his wishes to Indian Minister S. Jaishankar, emphasizing the continuing friendship inspiring peace and prosperity.
