FBI Captures Fugitive Mom in India: Charged with Son's Murder

New York, Aug 21 (PTI) — The FBI has apprehended a woman featured on the agency's '10 Most Wanted Fugitives' list, on allegations of murdering her six-year-old son and escaping to India to elude prosecution. In a statement shared on the platform X, FBI Director Kash Patel revealed details of the apprehension.

Cindy Rodriguez Singh, aged 40, was pursued under state charges related to her son's murder. Patel highlighted that Singh’s arrest marks the fourth capture from the "Top 10 Most Wanted" list within a span of seven months. He commended the collaborative efforts of law enforcement partners in Texas, the US Justice Department, Interpol, and Indian authorities.

The arrest was executed in India through collaboration between the FBI, Indian authorities, and INTERPOL, as reported by Fox News. Subsequently, Singh has been extradited to the US, where she will be handed over to Texas law enforcement officials.

Reports indicate that a welfare inquiry for Singh’s son, Noel Rodriguez-Alvarez, with special needs, was conducted in March 2023 by Texas authorities, due to his absence since October 2022.

Singh purportedly provided false information about the child's location, asserting he was residing in Mexico with his biological father from November 2022 onward. Shortly after, Singh departed to India along with her husband, the child's Indian-origin stepfather, and six other children. The missing child was notably absent from this group and did not accompany them on their flight, as outlined in the report.

Her son suffered from numerous health difficulties, such as severe developmental and social disorders, bone density issues, and chronic lung disease, Fox News detailed, citing officials.

Formal charges were pressed against Singh in October 2023 in a Texas district court. She will be facing accusations that include 'Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution' and 'Capital Murder of a person under 10 years of age', Patel stated.
