Ford Recalls 290,000+ US Vehicles Over Camera System Issue

New York, Oct 17 (AP) Ford is initiating a recall of over 290,000 vehicles in the United States due to an issue with the rearview camera system. This defect may cause images to not display correctly under certain lighting conditions, potentially heightening the risk of accidents.

The recall affects specific models, particularly the 2020-2022 F-250 SD, F-350 SD, and F-450 SD.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's report indicates that Ford analyzed customer complaint data and warranty records to assess the frequency of this issue among consumers. As of September 20, the automaker had identified 10 reports relating to this problem, with the earliest occurring on January 20, 2022.

Ford has stated that there have been no known accidents or injuries associated with this malfunction.

To rectify this issue, Ford's dealerships will provide a complimentary update to the image processing module software of the affected vehicles.

Owners will receive interim notifications from October 20, and further communication will be sent once a definitive solution is available, expected by March 2026.
