Pakistani Forces Neutralize TTP Terrorists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Pakistani Forces Neutralize TTP Terrorists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Peshawar, Oct 9 (PTI) - Pakistani security forces have successfully neutralized five terrorists linked to the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in a rigorously executed operation in the restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, according to police reports on Thursday. An army Major also tragically lost his life in this joint endeavor by security forces and police, which took place on Wednesday. The operation, targeting the suburban area of Musa Zai in Dera Ismail Khan district, bordering South Waziristan, was based on prior intelligence regarding terrorist activity. Authorities confirmed that five members of the banned TTP Gandapur Group were eliminated during the operation. Amidst the intense exchange of gunfire, an army Major succumbed to his injuries.

This operation followed a grim incident where 11 military personnel, including a Lieutenant Colonel and a Major, were killed in confrontations with Taliban militants, during a strategic intelligence-based operation in the province adjacent to Afghanistan. Pakistan has witnessed a disturbing increase in militant attacks, especially in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces, ever since the TTP revoked its ceasefire with the government in November 2022. The extremist group pledged to target security forces, police, and law enforcement agencies.
