Second Drone Attack on Gaza Flotilla Sparks Concerns

Second Drone Attack on Gaza Flotilla Sparks Concerns

Tunis (Tunisia), Sep 10 (AP) An international activist flotilla aiming to challenge the Israeli blockade of Gaza reported a second consecutive attack on Wednesday night.

The Global Sumud Flotilla announced that its British-flagged boat, "Alma," was targeted by a drone while moored in Tunisian waters. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. The group released security camera footage showing passengers shouting "fire" and pointing to the sky.

Fiery projectiles fell on the deck, exploding and igniting a blaze. This incident mirrored an attack the previous night on the Portuguese-flagged boat, "Family." Tunisian authorities refuted claims that the initial assault was drone-related and are investigating further. There was no immediate official response to the latest attack.

The flotilla, consisting of approximately 20 vessels, embarked from Barcelona, Spain, on September 1, carrying a symbolic amount of humanitarian aid. It planned to stop in Tunisia prior to its journey to Gaza.

"These repeated attacks occur amid intensified Israeli aggression against Palestinians in Gaza. They are part of a concerted effort to distract and derail our mission," the activists stated, resolute in their commitment to continue their mission. There was no immediate comment from Israeli authorities. (AP) SKS SKS
