China's FM Wang Yi to Visit Pakistan for Strategic Dialogue

China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi will visit Islamabad on Aug 21 for critical talks with Pakistan's leaders on bilateral relations and regional issues, setting the stage for PM Sharif's subsequent China visit for the SCO Summit.

China's FM Wang Yi to Visit Pakistan for Strategic Dialogue

Islamabad, Aug 18 (PTI) - China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi is set to visit Islamabad this week for the Pakistan-China strategic dialogue. During his visit, he will engage with both civil and military leaders to discuss the state of bilateral relations and key regional and international developments, reports The Express Tribune.

The visit, scheduled to begin on August 21, will span two days, according to official sources cited by the newspaper. In Islamabad, Wang Yi will assess the current status of Pakistan-China relations and address significant regional and global issues.

The timing of Wang's visit holds particular significance as it follows several recent events, including the four-day conflict between India and Pakistan in May, the Iran-Israel war in June, and an uptick in diplomatic relations between Pakistan and the United States.

Amid these developments, both sides are anticipated to explore avenues for enhancing cooperation. Additionally, Wang's visit will likely provide an opportunity to finalize the agenda for Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's upcoming trip to China.

Sharif is expected to travel to China later this month to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit and to conduct bilateral meetings with Chinese leaders.
