"Why did you take my son’s life?", US mother faces teen accused of his murder

In a poignant scene in Brooklyn, a grieving mother confronted the suspect accused of fatally stabbing her son, asking through her tears, "Why did you kill my son?" This emotional encounter unfolded as the suspect was led out in handcuffs from a police precinct on Tuesday, as reported by amNewYork Metro.

The suspect, 18-year-old Noah Rentas from South Slope, has been arrested and charged with the murder near the Barclays Centre that occurred earlier this month.

Authorities tracked Rentas down using a student MetroCard he allegedly used in the vicinity of the crime, according to reports.

Police allege that Rentas was involved in the fatal stabbing of 27-year-old Michael Hernandez during an altercation involving a group of teenagers at the intersection of Flatbush and Atlantic Avenues on March 14.

The dispute reportedly escalated from a verbal argument, ultimately resulting in Hernandez’s death at the scene.

Rentas faces charges of second-degree murder and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, according to the New York Post.

Authorities disclosed that Rentas has no prior criminal record. Sources suggest that this attack could be linked to a broader pattern of robberies across the area.

While Hernandez was not robbed during the incident, speculation suggests the attempted robbery may have gone wrong. Hernandez's family was present at the 78th Precinct in Brooklyn to witness Rentas's exit from the station post-arrest.
