Peshawar, Aug 7 (PTI) - A bomb blast in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, located in northwestern Pakistan, claimed the lives of at least two individuals and injured 14 others, including police officers, as reported by police authorities on Thursday. District Police Officer Tahir Shah provided details, indicating that the improvised explosive device (IED) detonation took place near a police patrol vehicle close to a taxi stand in Wana tehsil of South Waziristan district. The intense explosion resulted in two fatalities and left 14 others wounded, including two members of the police force.

Following the blast and consequent gunfire, security forces were deployed to the site. The injured have been transported to Wana Headquarters Hospital for medical treatment. There has been a surge in terrorist activities throughout Pakistan, particularly in the provinces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, after the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) ended its ceasefire with the government in November 2022.
