Terrorist Attack on FC Lines in Bannu: 5 Terrorists Killed

Peshawar, Sep 2 (PTI) In a significant confrontation in Pakistan's restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, at least five terrorists were eliminated, while six police officers sustained injuries after a suicide bomber targeted a paramilitary post on Tuesday, according to official reports.

The attack commenced when a suicide bomber drove an explosives-laden vehicle into the main gate of the Federal Constabulary Lines (FC Lines) in the Bannu district, which is adjacent to North Waziristan and shares a border with Afghanistan. District Police Officer (DPO) Saleem Abbas Kalachi provided these details.

Following the explosion, five militants breached the FC Lines and took control of the office buildings. Security forces responded promptly and neutralized one of the assailants on the spot.

In the ensuing operations, a combined effort from police, paramilitary, and other security forces resulted in the deaths of four additional militants.

During the exchange of gunfire, a Station House Officer (SHO) from the Cantonment Police Station was critically wounded, alongside five other officers who also suffered injuries.

Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Bannu Sajjad Khan made an official visit to the District Headquarters Hospital to meet with the injured personnel.

Overseeing the operation, DPO Kalachi addressed the media with a firm stance: "No act of terrorism will be tolerated in Bannu," proclaiming, "Terrorists can never be called Muslims."
