A 58-year-old Indian-origin man who had been missing since last year has been found dead in an isolated woodland in the West Midlands region of England.
Harjinder &lsquo;Harry&rsquo; Takhar, a father of four, went missing in October and a body discovered recently in Telford was identified as him earlier this week, after formal identification by the local West Mercia Police.
The police said Takhar&rsquo;s family had been informed and his death was not being treated as suspicious.
&ldquo;This is a sad outcome to what has been a challenging and emotional search, but I&rsquo;m pleased that Harry&rsquo;s family now have some closure,&rdquo; Detective Inspector Jo Whitehead, who led the enquiries into the disappearance.
&ldquo;I&rsquo;d like to thank the public for their incredible response to our appeals to locate Harry and all the information that they provided to us during our enquiries. Harry&rsquo;s family have asked me to express their sincere thanks for the support they have received from the community since Harry&rsquo;s disappearance, and have asked that their privacy is respected at this distressing time,&rdquo; he said.
According to local media reports, the disappearance was described as &ldquo;completely out of character&rdquo; by Takhar&rsquo;s family and mobilised the local community in the search. West Mercia Police issued several appeals over the months since Takhar's went missing.
A Facebook group was launched and attracted over 8,000 members with messages of support flooding in from friends and strangers. A social media campaign was also launched using the hashtag #HelpHarryHome.
&ldquo;He was a family man, who was a very jolly character and full of energy and life,&rdquo; wife Ran told &lsquo;Birmingham Live&rsquo;.
Takhar disappeared in the Stirchley Pools area of Telford in Shropshire.

Authorities in Western Australia were searching for a tiny but potentially deadly radioactive capsule that got lost while being transported on a truck from a mine to a depot in the city of Perth, officials said Saturday.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services has deployed teams with handheld radiation detection devices and metal detectors along 36 km (22 miles) of a busy freight route to look for the 8 mm by 6 mm (0.31 inches by 0.24 inches) unit.
It is believed to have fallen off the back of a truck on a 1,400-km (870-mile) journey from the Rio Tinto mine in Newman to the Perth suburb of Malaga.

&ldquo;What we're not doing is trying to find a tiny little device by eyesight,&rdquo; said Superintendent Darryl Ray, adding they were concentrating on populated areas north of Perth and strategic sites along the Great Northern Highway.
"We're using the radiation detectors to locate the gamma rays,&rdquo; he said.
Authorities were also using the truck's GPS data to determine the exact route the driver took and where it stopped after it left the mine on or about January 10.
There are concerns the solid capsule may have already become lodged in another vehicle's tyre and potentially be hundreds of km (miles) away from the search area.
It is believed a screw became loose inside a large lead-lined gauge and the unit fell through a hole.
Rio Tinto said it contracted an expert radioactive materials handler to package the capsule and transport it &ldquo;safely&rdquo; to the depot and was not told it was missing until Wednesday.
Chief Health Officer Andrew Robertson defended the Western Australia government's decision to wait two days to inform the public on Friday, saying the mine and depot had to be searched and excluded, and the route confirmed.
He said the capsule was packed in accordance with the radiation safety transport and regulations inside a box bolted onto a pallet.
&ldquo;We believe the vibration of the truck may have impacted the integrity of the gauge, that it fell apart and the source actually came out of it,&rdquo; he said. &ldquo;It is unusual for a gauge to come apart like this one has.&rdquo; An investigation will look at the handling of the gauge and capsule at the mine site, the transport route used and the procedures at the depot in Perth after it arrived on January 16.
Police have determined the incident to be an accident and no criminal charges are likely.
Authorities ruled out theft at the depot before the box was opened on Wednesday.
The small silver cylinder is a caesium 137 ceramic source commonly used in radiation gauges.
Robertson previously said the unit emits the equivalent of 10 X-rays in an hour and members of the public should stay at least 5 metres (16 feet) away. Contact could result in skin damage, burns and radiation sickness, including impacts to the immune and gastrointestinal systems.
Long-term exposure could also cause cancer, however, experts say the capsule cannot be weaponised.
&ldquo;Our concern is someone will pick it up, not knowing what it is, think this is something interesting (and) keep it,&rdquo; Robertson said.&nbsp;

In his book titled 'Never Give an Inch: Fighting for the America I Love,' Pompeo claims that both Ghani and Afghanistan's former chief executive Abdullah Abdullah were involved in corruption at the highest levels that limited the US&rsquo; ability to successfully exit the war-torn country in August 2021.
The United States completed its withdrawal from Afghanistan on August 31, ending its 20-year-old military presence in the war-torn country.
&ldquo;As negotiations accelerated, Ghani was always a problem. I met scores of world leaders, and he was my least favourite. That&rsquo;s saying a lot when you have Kim (Jong-un), Xi (Jinping), and (Vladimir) Putin in the mix. The bus was carrying 48 people from provincial capital Quetta to Karachi, the capital of Sindh province, when it crashed into the pillar and subsequently careened into a ravine before catching fire in the Lasbela area, Assistant Commissioner Lasbela Hamza Anjum said.
"The speeding bus crashed into the pillar of a bridge while taking a U-turn near Lasbela and fell into a ravine and then caught fire,&rdquo; he told the media.
Anjum said till now 42 bodies have been recovered from the accident site.
Only three people, including a child and a woman, could be rescued alive, the official said, adding that the death toll could rise as the injured were in critical condition.
"There were a total of 48 people on the passenger coaster," he said.
He said the bodies were charred beyond recognition and DNA testing will be done for the identification of the deceased.
Police and rescue officials were busy in pulling out bodies and shifting them to the nearby hospitals, according to officials.

The Taliban on Saturday doubled down on their ban on women's education, reinforcing in a message to private universities that Afghan women are barred from taking university entry exams, according to a spokesman.
The note comes despite weeks of condemnation and lobbying by the international community for a reversal on measures restricting women's freedoms, including two back-to-back visits this month by several senior U.N. officials. It also bodes ill for hopes that the Taliban could take steps to reverse their edicts anytime soon.
The Taliban barred women from private and public universities last month. The higher education minister in the Taliban-run government, Nida Mohammed Nadim, has maintained that the ban is necessary to prevent the mixing of genders in universities &mdash; and because he believes some subjects being taught violate Islamic principles.
Work was underway to fix these issues and universities would reopen for women once they were resolved, he had said in a TV interview.
The Taliban have made similar promises about middle school and high school access for girls, saying classes would resume for them once &ldquo;technical issues&rdquo; around uniforms and transport were sorted out. But girls remain shut out of classrooms beyond sixth grade.

A copy of the letter, shared with The Associated Press, warned that women could not take the &ldquo;entry test for bachelor, master and doctorate levels" and that if any university disobeys the edict, &ldquo;legal action will be taken against the violator.&rdquo; The letter was signed by Mohammad Salim Afghan, the government official overseeing student affairs at private universities.
Entrance exams start on Sunday in some provinces while elsewhere in Afghanistan, they begin Feb. 27. Universities across Afghanistan follow a different term timetable, due to seasonal differences.
Mohammed Karim Nasari, spokesman for the private universities union, said last month that dozens of private universities risk closure because of the ban.
Afghanistan has 140 private universities across 24 provinces, with around 200,000 students. Out of those, some 60,000 to 70,000 are women. The universities employ about 25,000 people.
Earlier this week, U.N. humanitarian chief Martin Griffiths and leaders of two major international aid organizations visited Afghanistan, following last week's visit by a delegation led by the U.N.'s highest-ranking woman, U.N. Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed. The visits had the same aim &mdash; to try and reverse the Taliban's crackdown on women and girls, including their ban on Afghan women working for national and global humanitarian organizations.

Both were fully conscious and in moderate to serious condition in the hospital, the medics added.
As police rushed to the scene, two passers-by with licensed weapons shot and overpowered the 13-year-old attacker, police said.
Police confiscated his handgun and took the wounded teen to a hospital.
Video showed police escorting a wounded young man, wearing nothing but underwear, away from the scene and onto a stretcher, his hands cuffed behind his back.
Authorities taped off the street, emergency vehicles and security forces swarmed the area and helicopters whirled overhead.
&ldquo;He waited to ambush civilians on the Holy Sabbath day,&rdquo; Israeli police spokesperson Dean Elsdunne told The Associated Press.
He added that the teenager opened fire on a group of five civilians.
&ldquo;The Israeli police are going to act accordingly,&rdquo; Elsdunne said.
Saturday's events &mdash; on the eve of US Secretary of State Antony Blinken's arrival in the region &mdash; raised the possibility of even greater conflagration in one of the bloodiest months in Israel and the occupied West Bank in several years.

At least three people were killed and four others were wounded in a shooting in California area early on Saturday morning.
Sgt. Frank Preciado of the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed the shooting happened just after 2:30 am in Beverly Crest, an upscale Los Angeles neighbourhood.
Of the seven people who were shot, four were standing outside. The three who were killed were in a vehicle.
Their identities were not released. Those who were injured were taken to a hospital and are in critical condition.
Preciado said he did not have information on what led up to the shooting, or if it occurred at a residence.
This is the fourth mass shooting in California this month.
The shooting comes a week after a massacre at a dance hall in a Los Angeles suburb left 11 dead and nine wounded and only days after a gunman opened fire on a pair of mushroom farms south of San Francisco on Monday, fatally shooting seven people and wounding one.
The killings have dealt a blow to the state, which has some of the nation's toughest firearm laws and lowest rates of gun deaths.
For the third straight year, the US in 2022 recorded over 600 mass shootings in which at least four people were killed or injured, according to the Gun Violence Archive.

Addressing a press conference here on Sunday evening, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) vice-chairman and former foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said the decision was taken during the party's core committee meeting.
"Imran Khan will be PTI's sole candidate in all 33 parliamentary seats. The decision was taken in the party's core committee meeting which was presided over by Khan at Zaman Park Lahore on Sunday," Qureshi said.
On Friday, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) announced that bypolls to 33 seats of the National Assembly will held on March 16.
Khan&rsquo;s party had quit the National Assembly, the lower house of Pakistan parliament, en masse following his ouster from power in April last in a parliamentary vote of no-confidence.

President Vladimir Putin threatened to personally target Boris Johnson with a missile attack just before ordering Russian forces into Ukraine, the former UK prime minister has claimed.
The apparent threat came in a phone call just ahead of the invasion on February 24, according to a new BBC documentary to be broadcast on Monday.
Johnson and other Western leaders had been hurrying to Kyiv to show support for Ukraine and try to deter a Russian attack.
"He sort of threatened me at one point and said, 'Boris, I don't want to hurt you, but with a missile, it would only take a minute', or something like that," Johnson quoted Putin as saying.
Johnson emerged as one of the most impassioned Western backers of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
But prior to the invasion, he says he was at pains to tell Putin that there was no imminent prospect of Ukraine joining NATO, while warning him that any invasion would mean "more NATO, not less NATO" on Russia's borders.
"He said, 'Boris, you say that Ukraine is not going to join NATO any time soon.
"'What is any time soon?' And I said, &lsquo;well it's not going to join NATO for the foreseeable future. You know that perfectly well'."

The BBC documentary charts the growing divide between the Russian leader and the West in the years before the invasion of Ukraine.
It also features Zelensky reflecting on his thwarted ambitions to join NATO prior to Russia's attack.

Hundreds representing different Indian diaspora organisations gathered outside the BBC headquarters in central London on Sunday to protest against what they branded as "fake news" behind the broadcaster's controversial series on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The "Chalo BBC" protests were coordinated across BBC studios in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow and Newcastle and brought together groups such as Indian Diaspora UK (IDUK), Friends of India Society International (FISI) UK, Insight UK and Hindu Forum of Britain (HFB), among others.
The protesters waved placards reading "Boycott BBC", "British Bias Corporation" and "Stop the Hinduphobic Narrative", and chanted slogans such as "Shame on BBC" and "Bharat Mata Ki Jai".

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on Sunday sacked one of his Cabinet ministers and Conservative Party chairman, Nadhim Zahawi, after he was found to have been in serious breach of the Ministerial Code.
Zahawi, who was a minister without portfolio as the chief of the governing Tory party, had faced fierce pressure in recent days to quit over questions about his finances after it emerged that he had agreed a penalty settlement with His Majesty&rsquo;s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) department.
Sunak had ordered an independent investigation into the Iraqi-born former Chancellor&rsquo;s tax affairs amid growing Opposition demands for him to sack Zahawi.
His independent ethics adviser, Sir Laurie Magnus, submitted his assessment on whether the HMRC settlement amounted to a breach of the ministerial code.
&ldquo;When I became Prime Minister last year, I pledged that the government I lead would have integrity, professionalism and accountability at every level,&rdquo; writes Sunak in his letter to Zahawi, released by Downing Street.
"Following the completion of the independent adviser's investigation &ndash; the findings of which he has shared with us both &ndash; it is clear that there has been a serious breach of the Ministerial Code. As a result, I have informed you of my decision to remove you from your position in His Majesty's government," he said.
He added that Zahawi should be "extremely proud" of his "wide-ranging achievements in government over the last five years", particularly crediting his "successful oversight of the COVID-19 vaccine procurement and deployment programme".
In the correspondence to Sunak, also released by Downing Street, Magnus said his overall judgement was that "Mr Zahawi's conduct as a minister has fallen below the high standards that, as Prime Minister, you rightly expect from those who serve in your government".
Earlier this week, Zahawi said he welcomed the investigation and looked forward to "explaining the facts of this issue" to Magnus &ndash; the UK Prime Minister's Independent Adviser on Ministers' Interests.
"In order to ensure the independence of this process, you will understand that it would be inappropriate to discuss this issue any further, as I continue my duties as chairman of the Conservative and Unionist Party," Zahawi said at the time.
The minister has insisted he "acted properly throughout" and any tax error was due to being &ldquo;careless&rdquo; and not deliberate.
The Opposition parties and even some members of the Conservative Party had called for Zahawi to step down as Tory chairman amid too many unanswered questions.
In his report, dated 29 January, Magnus notes: "Given the nature of the investigation by HMRC, which started prior to his appointment as secretary of state for education on 15 September 2021, I consider that by failing to declare HMRC's ongoing investigation before July 2022 &ndash; despite the ministerial declaration of interests form including specific prompts on tax affairs and HMRC investigations and disputes &ndash; Mr Zahawi failed to meet the requirement to declare any interests which might be thought to give rise to a conflict." He adds: "I also conclude that, in the appointments process for the governments formed in September 2022 and October 2022, Mr Zahawi failed to disclose relevant information &ndash; in this case the nature of the investigation and its outcome in a penalty &ndash; at the time of his appointment, including to cabinet office officials who support that process.
"Without knowledge of that information, the Cabinet Office was not in a position to inform the appointing Prime Minister."
