Air France pilots fight in cockpit during flight, suspended, days after engine fire risk report

In a concerning incident, two pilots of French airline Air France have been suspended for physically fighting in the cockpit during a Geneva-to-Paris flight.

According to Switzerland's La Tribune, the pilot and co-pilot had a fight shortly after take-off. One of them hit the other, and then the two grabbed each other's collars. Cabin crew intervened to break up the fight, and for the remainder of the flight, one crew member remained in the cockpit to prevent further fighting.

Air France said that the dispute did not affect the flight, and it landed safely. The incident occurred in June 2022, and the suspension was announced on 28 August 2022.

Just days earlier, on 24 August, France's air investigation agency BEA had said that some Air France pilots do not follow procedure during safety incidents. The report was regarding a flight between Congo's Brazzaville to Paris in December 2020.

There was a fuel leak on the plane, but the pilots rerouted the flight, but did not cut power to the engine, and land as soon as possible. This could have led to the engine catching fire.
