Aditi Ashok Ties for 32nd; Miranda Wang Wins LPGA FM Championship

Norton, Virginia, Sep 1 (PTI) - Indian golfer Aditi Ashok experienced a challenging front nine during the final round of the FM Championship on the LPGA Tour, eventually carding a one-over-par 73 to conclude the tournament in a tie for 32nd place.

Across her rounds, Aditi posted scores of 68, 70, 70, and 73, culminating in an 8-under-par total. Her final round included three birdies but was marred by four bogeys.

Aditi currently ranks 68th in the Race to CME Globe standings and must move into the Top-60 to secure her spot in the season-ending tournament.

The top 100 players in the Race to the CME Globe standings earn their tour cards for the next season, with those in the top 80 achieving a higher priority ranking.

This season, Aditi has achieved two top-10 finishes out of 15 starts, successfully making the cut in nine events. Her best performances were a sixth-place finish at the Portland Classic and a tie for ninth in Mexico.

Meanwhile, Miranda Wang delivered an outstanding performance in the closing stages to defeat the No. 1 player in women's golf and claim her inaugural LPGA title.

Wang recorded a 2-under 70, securing a one-shot victory over Jeeno Thitikul. In becoming the seventh LPGA rookie to win this year, she extended the streak of no repeat winners through the first 23 events of the tour this year. Wang's resilience was evident in her well-deserved triumph.

Sei Young Kim also shot a 70, finishing in third place, three shots back. Andrea Lee's matching 70 saw her end up one shot further behind. Rose Zhang settled for a 72, resulting in a tie for fifth alongside Jin Hee Im, who carded a bogey-free 62.

Nelly Korda, who achieved seven victories last year, closed with a 75 and tied for 35th, trailing Wang by 14 shots.
