2 attacks in 10 days, 2 more Sikh men victim of 'hate crime'

Two Sikh men were assaulted in an alleged hate crime incident in New York on Tuesday. The Consulate General of India in New York has condemned the assault, called it "deplorable.” One person has been arrested in connection with the crime, it said.

The two men were on an early morning walk in the same area where another attack on a Sikh man took place 10 days ago.

According to reports, the attackers hit the victims with a pole and removed their turbans. There have been widespread calls to bring to justice the perpetrators of the crime.

New York Attorney General Letitia James, Jenifer Rajkumar, the first Punjabi American ever elected to New York State Office and Manjinder Singh Sirsa, a Delhi based Sikh leader all asked for an investigation into the crime.
