Delhi excise policy: ED arrests Raghav Manguta, son of YSR Congress MP

Raghav Magunta was taken into custody under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) on Friday evening, they said.

The Enforcement Directorate has arrested Raghav Magunta, son of YSR Congress Party MP from Ongole Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy, in connection with its money laundering investigation into alleged irregularities in the Delhi excise policy case, officials said Saturday.
Raghav Magunta was taken into custody under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) on Friday evening, they said.
He is expected to be produced before a local court, where the federal probe agency will seek his custody.
This is the ninth arrest in this case by the ED, and the third this week.
It arrested Gautam Malhotra, son of former SAD MLA from Punjab Deep Malhotra, and Rajesh Joshi, the director of an advertising company called Chariot Productions Media Pvt Ltd, earlier in the week.

The agency had alleged that a cartel called 'South Group' of liquor retailers, wholesalers and manufacturers was created as part of the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy, and the father and son duo were part of it.
It had searched premises linked to the Member of Parliament last year.
The ED, till now, has filed two charge sheets or prosecution complaints in this case.
The money laundering case stems from a CBI FIR.
Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and other excise officials of the government were named as accused in the CBI and the ED complaints.

Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmer Welfare Narendra Singh Tomar&nbsp;tabled the three contentious&nbsp;agriculture reform bills in the Rajya&nbsp;Sabha&nbsp;on Sunday amid massive uproar from Opposition benches.
"I want to assure everyone that the bills have nothing to do with MSPs. MSPs were there and will continue. I would request everyone to reconsider their views on the farm bills. The two bills are historic and will bring a change in the lives of the farmers. The farmers will be able to freely trade their produce anywhere in the country.", said Tomar&nbsp;to members.&nbsp;
The numbers, are in favour of the BJP in the Rajya Sabha, while the Lok Sabha already cleared the bills despite a key NDA member, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), opposing them.&nbsp;BJP leaders are confident that they will get the support of over 130 members, including 9 of the AIADMK and 6 MPs of the YSR Congress, both of whom are not part of the NDA, if a division of votes is sought on these bills. The Shiv Sena, a former BJP ally and now in opposition, has also expressed its support.

Monsoon session: 17 MPs tested positive for Covid-19

At least 25 members of the Parliament from many parties tested positive before the beginning of the Monsoon Session.
Reports said 17 lawmakers from the Lok&nbsp;Sabha&nbsp;and 8 MPs&nbsp;from the Rajya&nbsp;Sabha&nbsp;have tested positive.&nbsp;
The government has made it mandatory for the lawmakers to test negative for the deadly coronavirus to attend the session. 4000&nbsp;people including the MPs were tested before the 18-day session began on Monday.&nbsp;
According to the report, 12 of the total infected Lok&nbsp;Sabha&nbsp;MPs are from the&nbsp;Bharatiya&nbsp;Janata&nbsp;Party,&nbsp;whereas 2 are from YSR&nbsp;Congress and one each are from&nbsp;the&nbsp;Shiv&nbsp;Sena, DMK and&nbsp;Rashtriya&nbsp;Loktantrik&nbsp;Party.&nbsp;
