Saif Ali Khan addresses the issue of ongoing boycott for big-ticket films in the Hindi film industry.

The Hindi film industry is going through a rough patch with many big-ticket films facing boycott calls and being trolled online. Now, in an interview with CNBC-TV18, actor Saif Ali Khan has addressed the same. He feels that the section of the audience calling for a boycott of Hindi films is not genuine and they are using the industry&rsquo;s &lsquo;bad&rsquo; movies as a launchpad for attacks.
&lsquo;This section of the people, who I think are (boycotting) I am not sure if it&rsquo;s the genuine audience. Using a soft target, for example a bad movie, to say, &lsquo;Ok let&rsquo;s ban this or cancel that&rsquo;&hellip; I also think it is really sad that Bollywood has not shown unity. Until we have that ability to take that step, we will never really know the truth of how effective this boycott culture is,&rsquo; he said.
Saif added that cancel culture is scary and it is a worldwide phenomenon. He said when a film is about to release, artists keep a low profile and get it out of the way.
Saif is also confident in India people will always come to watch films as entertainment is limited in cities like Mumbai.
&lsquo;These people, who say &lsquo;boycott boycott&rsquo;, I don&rsquo;t think are the audience. People like entertaining themselves, people like watching movies, so they are not going to not watch a movie&hellip;We don&rsquo;t really have much to do in our country, you can&rsquo;t go for a walk in the park or take a quiet boat ride with your kids. Entertainment is limited in cities like ours, so movies is one of those things,&rsquo; he added.
In the interview, he was also asked why Hindi films are not clicking with the audience, to which Saif replied that just like everybody else he is clueless.
The actor said the box office performance of his recent release &lsquo;Vikram Vedha&rsquo; was disappointing, in the sense that it opened and ran and everyone who saw really liked it, but philosophically looking back, the reason they should be polite to each other is that nobody has any clue what works, what doesn&rsquo;t or what&rsquo;s going to happen.
On the work front, Saif Ali Khan will next be seen in Om Raut&rsquo;s &lsquo;Adipurush&rsquo;, co-starring Kriti Sanon and Prabhas.

Actor Rohit Saraf is on cloud nine after receiving positive feedback for his Netflix series &lsquo;Mismatched&rsquo; season 2 and film &lsquo;Vikram Vedha&rsquo;. In a new interview, Rohit mentioned how excited he was to share the screen space with Hrithik Roshan and also revealed that he almost lost out on the film due to availability issues.
In an interview with Puja Talwar, Rohit said that dates for &lsquo;Vikram Vedha&rsquo; and &lsquo;Mismatched&rsquo; shoot clashed, but everything thing fell into place after Hrithik made a phone call and got him on board.
&lsquo;I just hoped to not be in a situation where I would have to leave this film because my dates were not available. I would be so upset about it, that&rsquo;s exactly what happened. Dates (for the Vikram Vedha and Mismatched shoot) were exactly the same,&rsquo; he said.

Following this Akarsh managed some days. However, Hrithik understood they couldn&rsquo;t cancel the entire schedule of &lsquo;Mismatched&rsquo;, so, the entire schedule of &lsquo;Vikram Vedha&rsquo; was pushed by 5 days.
&lsquo;They waited for me to come and be a part of it. When I heard Hrithik sir himself called my director to get my dates, that day I was like &lsquo;even if this film doesn&rsquo;t work out I&rsquo;m ok with it because I know what this means to me. How big of a deal this is,&rsquo; he added.
&lsquo;Vikram Vedha&rsquo;, directed by Pushkar and Gayathri, is the Hindi remake of 2017 Tamil film of the same name. Rohit Saraf portrayed the role of Hrithik Roshan's brother Shatak, who mistakenly gets killed in an encounter.
On the work front, Rohit Saraf will be next seen in &lsquo;Ishq Vishq Rebound&rsquo;, directed by Nipun Dharmadhikari. The film also marks Hrithik&rsquo;s cousin Pashmina Roshan&rsquo;s acting debut.

The actor took to Instagram on Monday and announced that he's now cutting ties with his character Vedha. Sharing a clip in which he is seen cutting a black thread from his wrist, Hrithik wrote a lengthy note talking about the commitment he makes to himself before beginning work.
'I don&rsquo;t know exactly when I started doing this. Or even why. But I realized today that i&rsquo;v secretly done this for every character that terrified me.Mostly it&rsquo;s a red mauli ( kabir wore that) and sometimes it&rsquo;s a black thread. Can&rsquo;t even remember when I started this. Was it kaho na pyaar hai ? Or koi mil gaya or much later ? ( Wil have to go back and check my wrists or neck in those films) cause it&rsquo;s never planned. Vedha got it at dress rehearsals n became it. Kabir got it at the War mahurat pooja and i made it a part of him. I think I do it cause it physically anchors the commitment I make to myself before I begin. A secret pact between me and myself,' he worte.
He added that the ritual of cutting the sacred thread is always confusing.&nbsp;
'For vedha I tried once my shoot got over but couldn&rsquo;t , then when my dub got over , but again couldn&rsquo;t. And then I finally did when the question I ask myself had a satisfactory answer &ldquo;Did I give this everything I had?&rdquo; &ldquo;Can I do more ?&rdquo; - it&rsquo;s a question that scares me , drives me , n keeps me searching for more,' he added.
He concluded his note saying that Vedha has been a 'terrific journey'.&nbsp;
'Thru him I learnt to be. At peace with my failings. Unafraid and unapologetic. I will always be grateful to my directors and writers Pushkar and Gayatri for creating this opportunity. Thank you Vedha. I let go. With love and gratitude,' he said.&nbsp;

The film has received a positive response from the audience as well as critics, who praised the performances of the lead actors and the action sequences. 
According to trade analysts, Tamil film 'Ponniyin Selvan I' collected around 80 crores worldwide on the first day. The film has registered the biggest worldwide opening by any Tamil film this year, beating films like 'Vikram' and 'Valimai'. 
The film stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Vikram, Karthi, Trisha Krishnan, Sobhita Dhulipala and Aishwarya Lekshmi, among others. Aishwarya plays a dual role in the  film- princess Nandini and her mother Mandakini Devi.

The Pushkar-Gayathri directorial is a remake of Tamil film, starring R Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi, and the audience is bound to draw comparisons.  In a recent interaction with Hindustan Times, Saif appreciated Madhavan’s performance in the original film, and said that he is not at all nervous regarding the comparisons, instead he welcomes them. He said, ‘I actually welcome the comparisons. I respect Madhavan immensely. He did a great job but I know there will be comparisons. Somebody told me something once. We are called stars, and there is a whole galaxy of them. And the reason there are so many is that everyone is different. So, I hope I am able to bring an interesting take on it.’  Hrithik also commented on comparisons with Vijay Sethupathi and said, ‘There is nothing I can do about it. I have done my part. The only thing in my control is to do my best. That’s all. There’s a prayer I say every day: ‘give me the courage to change what things I can, serenity to accept what cannot be changed, and the insight to know the difference’. Once I know that, I am content.’  He also added that he will not be able to match Vijay Sethupathi’s performance in the original. ‘I know how amazingly Vijay Sethupathi did the same part. I can’t in my dreams think that I would achieve that level. Saif, in an interview with Biz Asia, talked about his character as an encounter specialist and said, &lsquo;When the mafia problem was getting so out of control, there was this urban legend that we won&rsquo;t show whether the &lsquo;criminal&rsquo; was shot genuinely trying to escape, or executed, and later on, they do the paperwork to show that he was trying to escape and we had to shoot him. That&rsquo;s called an &lsquo;encounter&rsquo;, a &lsquo;fake encounter&rsquo;. It&rsquo;s kind of a horrific judicial&hellip; I&rsquo;m sure it&rsquo;s completely illegal. But it&rsquo;s cinematically quite disturbing as well, and that&rsquo;s kind of what my character does. But he&rsquo;s convinced he&rsquo;s a good guy, because (he thinks) it&rsquo;s required.&rsquo;&nbsp;
Saif also said that the film might look like just an action movie but has a deep screenplay to take &lsquo;a look at a few things.&rsquo; He further told how he thinks he is &lsquo;quite different&rsquo; from the character in the film. He said, &lsquo;I&rsquo;m much more&hellip; probably a bit left-wing, I suppose&hellip; I don&rsquo;t know, I probably shouldn&rsquo;t say these things anymore today. However, nothing is official yet.

When asked about his forthcoming projects, the actor responded that he will be shooting for 'Fighter' next and then there is potential for others to be made, including &lsquo;Brahmastra Part 2: Dev&rsquo; and &lsquo;Ramayana&rsquo;.

Ranbir met his fans and sought their feedback on his latest release on the occasion of National Cinema Day on Friday. The actor also promoted Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan’s film 'Vikram Vedha' and requested fans to support cinema.    According to a media report, Ranbir thanked the audience and said, ‘Brahmastra ki part two aur part 3 hum jaldi banayenge aur release karenge.Tab tak aap please cinema ko support kariye aur karte jayiye. Agle hafte bhi bhot achi film aa rahi hai Vikram Vedha. Usko bhi support kijiye and thank you so much. We will see you at the movies.' Hrithik, who was present at the Mumbai’s iconic Gaiety Galaxy in Bandra, also shared his experience of being recognized by the audience for the first time. He said 'Gaiety is very special. Twenty-two years ago, when Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai had released, I had come for the first day first show. I saw the first show of my first film here at Gaiety, with the audience. And when the film got over and the lights were on, people recognised me and that was the first time I experienced what the love of the audience is.'

'Vikram Vedha,' starring Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan, is one of the highly anticipated movies of this year. After facing many hurdles, the shoot for the Pushkar-Gayatri directorial wrapped up earlier last month. The film has often made headlines and recently a report stated that Hrithik Roshan refused to shoot in Uttar Pradesh. 
According to BollywoodLife.com, Pushkar and Gayathri were keen to shoot the film in some old lanes of UP to manitain the gritty looks and feel, but the actor refused. He reportedly urged the directors and writer to recreate the lanes of Uttar Pradesh via lavish sets in Dubai due to which budget for the movie doubled. 
Now, Reliance Entertainment has issued a statement claiming that these reports are 'misleading' and there has been 'totally unsubstantiated reporting' on 'Vikram Vedha' shooting locations. In its statement, the company clarified that the film has been shot extensively in India, including Lucknow. However, a portion of the film was shot in the United Arab Emirates in October-Novemeber 2021 since it was the only location to provide infrastructure for bio-bubble to accomodate the crew and allow building of sets in a studio during the preceeding months of the shoot. 
'We chose to do that out of health and protocol concerns. Any attempts to twist these set of facts are clearly mischievous and unthruthful. Also, we would like to emphatically state that at Reliance Entertainment while we welcome suggestions from creative talents, the prodcution and budgetary decisions are centralized prerogative,' Reliance Entertainment said in its statement.
