As the rescue operation enters its 7th day in Uttarkashi, Uttrakhand, a new drilling machine has been airlifted to the rescue operation site to rescue the trapped 41 workers inside the collapsed tunnel.
On Friday the operation came to a halt after loud cracking sounds inside the tunnel as well as the glitch in the drilling machine.
On Saturday, a new top nautch drilling machine was airlifted from Indore, Madhya Pradesh to the operation site, however, it will be deployed once the existing defective drilling machine is removed from the tunnel.

On November 18, the NDRF updated the list of trapped persons from 40 to 41 and assured that all trapped inside the tunnel were safe.
As per the reports, the rescue operation is going at a slower pace than expected due to the technical glitch in the drilling machine and the nature of the debris. &nbsp;
The rescuers are planning to push the drill through 65-70 meters of debris and push two pipes of 800 mm and 900 mm one after another to create a passage through which the trapped workers can crawl to safety.

Uttarakhand HC issues notice to Maha Guv over unpaid dues

The Uttrakhand&nbsp;High Court on Tuesday issued a show-cause&nbsp;notice to Maharashtra&nbsp;Governor&nbsp;Bhagat&nbsp;Singh&nbsp;Koshiyari&nbsp;asking him to submit his response over non-payment of pending dues as a former state CM. The Court was hearing a contempt petition against former Uttrakhand&nbsp;chief ministers for non-payment of dues during their respective tenures. Earlier in May last year, the court had ordered four former CMs&nbsp;including Koshiyari&nbsp;to pay 2.8 crore&nbsp;rupees to the state government within 6 months for the buildings they occupied. While&nbsp;Koshiyari's&nbsp;counsel BS Upadhyay&nbsp;confirmed that they will respond within four weeks, Ramesh&nbsp;Pokhriyal&nbsp;Nishank, Vijay&nbsp;Bahuguna,&nbsp;and Bhuvan&nbsp;Chand&nbsp;Khaduri&nbsp;have also not cleared their dues.&nbsp;

₹12,000 cr interest-free 50-year loan to states: FM

PTI, New Delhi: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharman on Monday announced a Rs 12,000 crore interest-free 50-year loan to states for spending on capital projects in a bid to boost economy.
Addressing a press conference, she said, out of the Rs 12,000 crore, Rs 1,600 crore will be given to north-eastern states and Rs 900 crore will be for Uttrakhand and Himachal Pradesh.
She said Rs 7,500 crore will be for the remaining states. Rs 2,000 crore will be given to states that fulfill pre-stated reforms.
The loan will have to be spent entirely on new or ongoing capital projects, she said adding that states can settle bills of contractors and suppliers but all the amount has to be paid before March 31, 2021.
The loan is over and above borrowing ceilings of the states and the repayment will be one bullet payment after 50 years, she added.
The Finance Minister also announced additional capital expenditure of Rs 25,000 crore by the central government.
This will be in addition to Rs 4.13 lakh crore budgeted, she said, adding that the additional money will be for spending on roads, defence infrastructure, water supply and urban development.
