Despite losing one of their openers for a duck, Afghanistan had a solid start as they raced to 94 without any more hiccup. But a batting collapse saw the young Afghan players lose their way and eventually manage 215/9. Rehan Ahmed took 4 wickets. The final will be played on Saturday.

A Covid-19-hit India set a huge target of 405 runs, chasing which the Uganda cricketers were bowled out for less than 80 as stand-in captain Nishant Sindhu picked up 4 wickets for India. India's total is by far the highest total in this edition. While Raghuvanshi secured 144 runs off 120 balls, Bawa remained unbeaten for 162 off 108, surpassing India's Shikhar Dhawan to become the highest individual scorer by an Indian batter in the U-19 World Cup.  With the win, India topped Group B and will now play the quarter-final clash on January 29th.

Udhay Saharan, Abhishek Porel, Rishith Reddy, Ansh Gosai and PM Singh Rathore are the 5 players to fly to the Caribbean immediately. The BCCI’s logistics team is working on their travel plans and the 5 players will undergo a six-day quarantine upon their arrival in Antigua. There is a strong possibility that India’s quarterfinals match will now be played on January 29 allowing players enough time to recover.
5 members of the Under-19 team tested positive on the morning of their 2nd group game vs Ireland and were hence put in isolation. The entire team was tested again on the same evening and thankfully there were no more fresh cases in the camp.
