Tej Pratap Yadav has strongly defended his sister Rohini Acharya after she accused Tejashwi Yadav and his aide of humiliating her, warning that those betraying the family will &ldquo;pay the price&rdquo;.

Tej Pratap Yadav, the chief of Janshakti Janta Dal and elder son of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad, has come out in support of his sister, Rohini Acharya, following her recent public allegations of humiliation by her brother Tejashwi Yadav and aide, Sanjay Yadav, stating "Jaichands will have to pay the price and face the consequences".
The former Bihar minister, who lost the election from Mahua assembly seat, voiced his sentiments in support of his sister Rohini Acharya in a post on his X handle, blaming the crisis on 'Jaichand', a metaphor for traitors.
"I will not tolerate the insult to our sister under any circumstances... Jaichands will have to pay the price for their misdeeds... they will have to face the consequences. Whatever has happened with Rohni didi has shaken me. I tolerated whatever happened to me, but I can't tolerate this insult to my sister. It's unacceptable and unbearable," Yadav said.
"I must tell all these Jaichands... If they target our family, people of Bihar will never forgive them," he added.
RJD president Lalu Prasad's daughter Rohini Acharya on Sunday alleged that she has been "sworn at" and accused of extracting "crores of rupees and a party ticket" in exchange for a "filthy kidney" that she gave to her ailing father.
A day after having left for Delhi, claiming that she had been "driven out" of her parents' home by the cohorts of her younger brother Tejashwi Yadav, the 47-year-old shared lurid details of what took place at their place after the party suffered a debacle in the Bihar assembly polls.
In a couple of posts on her X handle, Acharya alleged, "I was sworn at (gandi galiyan di gayi)", and was "accused of having given my filthy (gandi) kidney to my father" in exchange for "crores of rupees and a party ticket".
Acharya, who had donated a kidney to Prasad a few years ago, had contested last year's Lok Sabha polls, unsuccessfully, from Saran.
In her emotionally charged posts, she rued having made the sacrifice to save her father's life "without caring for the approval of my husband and my in-laws or for the well-being of my three children".
In a dig at Tejashwi Yadav, her father's heir apparent, she said, "May all married women, if they have a brother, never take such a step. They should ask their brother to donate his own kidney or that of a Haryanvi friend."

Rohini Acharya launched an emotional attack on her family and RJD leaders, alleging insults and abuse over her kidney donation to Lalu Prasad, a day after quitting politics and blaming Tejashwi Yadav&rsquo;s aides for the party&rsquo;s poor poll performance.

Claiming that she was "cursed at" for donating a "dirty kidney" to her father Lalu Prasad in exchange for money and a party ticket, Rohini Acharya on Sunday said "she has been made an orphan", and advised all married women to refrain from saving "your God-like father if he has a son".
In an emotional outburst, 47-year-old Acharya, in a series of posts on X, said that "may no household give birth to a girl with a fate like that of Rohini".

The posts came a day after her announcement that she was quitting the party and disowning her family, while putting the blame for the RJD's debacle in the recent Bihar polls on her brother Tejashwi Yadav's close aides &ndash; RJD's MP Sanjay Yadav, who hails from Haryana, and Rameez, who is from a political family in Uttar Pradesh.
"Yesterday, I was cursed at and told that I am dirty, and that I got my father to have my dirty kidney transplanted into him, took crores of rupees, bought a ticket, and then got that dirty kidney put in," Acharya, who had unsuccessfully contested the Saran Lok Sabha seat in last year's general elections, said.
A doctor by qualification, she had on Saturday announced that she was quitting politics and disowning her family, insisting that accountability be fixed for the party's poor performance in the recently held polls, in which the RJD won only 25 seats of the 243-strong Bihar assembly. She had also spoken bitterly of Sanjay and Rameez, alleging they claimed to be master strategists like 'Chanakya' but paid no heed to feedback from grassroots-level workers.
In an apparent dig at Tejashwi and his former personal assistant Sanjay Yadav, who has come to enjoy tremendous clout in party affairs, she said, "To all the married women, I will say that when there's a son in your maternal home, never, ever save your God-like father; instead, tell your brother, the son of that house, to get his own kidney or that of one of his Haryanvi friends transplanted."
"All sisters and daughters should look after their own homes and families, take care of their children and their in-laws' household without caring for their parents, think only about themselves," she added.
Acharya said she committed a "huge sin" by not looking after her family, which includes her three children, and not taking permission from her husband or in-laws before donating a kidney to her father during a transplant in Singapore a few years ago.
"I did what I did to save my God -- my father -- and today, the kidney is being called 'dirty'... May none of you ever make a mistake like mine, may no family ever have a daughter like Rohini," she added.
In another post, she alleged that she was verbally abused and a slipper was raised to hit her.
"Yesterday, a daughter, a sister, a married woman, a mother was humiliated, filthy abuses were hurled at her, a slipper was raised to hit her. I did not compromise on my self-respect, I did not surrender the truth, and solely because of this, I had to endure this insult... Yesterday, a daughter, out of compulsion, left behind her crying parents and sisters and came away; they tore me away from my maternal home... They left me orphaned," she added.
In her outbursts, Acharya has also been targeting another close aide of her brother, Rameez, who is said to be a son-in-law of Rizwan Zaheer, a Samajwadi Party leader and a former MP from Balrampur in neighbouring Uttar Pradesh.
She also shared a post, written by another user on X, in which it was claimed that both Zaheer and Rameez were facing murder cases and the former was currently lodged in jail.
No family member of Prasad's family has reacted to Acharya's public outbursts so far.
Meanwhile, state minister Santosh Kumar Suman, whose father Jitan Ram Manjhi is a Union minister and a former close associate of the RJD supremo, claimed to have been "aware, for some time, that all is not well in that family".
Speaking to reporters, Suman, who heads Hindustani Awam Morcha, said, "What was just a smoke until now has become a raging fire and is exploding like a bomb. All members of that family have vaulting ambitions and are busy pulling each other down. We have seen what happened in the case of Tej Pratap."
Tej Pratap Yadav, the elder son of the RJD supremo, was expelled from the party a few months ago by his father, and has since floated a new outfit, 'Janshakti Janata Dal', which was drubbed in the recent elections.
Tej Pratap Yadav has also been blaming Sanjay Yadav, whom he always calls 'Jaichand', for the troubles in his father's party and family.
The HAM, which has registered its best-ever performance in the recent polls, winning five of the six seats it had contested, elected Sikandra MLA Prafull Manjhi as its legislative party leader.
Suman advised Tejashwi Yadav to "inculcate a bit of sensitivity, only then can he aspire to be a leader of the people. Apparently, he has been blamed for the party's debacle and he has reacted with the aggression that has become a characteristic of the RJD. How sad it is to see a daughter and a sister being humiliated in her own family".
The RJD, which was earlier the single-largest party, with a 70-plus tally in the outgoing assembly, has finished with a dismal figure of 25 in the recent polls, which were fought by the INDIA bloc with Yadav as the chief ministerial candidate.

The ruling NDA decimated the Mahagathbandhan in Bihar on Friday to retain power, reaffirming Prime Minister Narendra Modi's popularity and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's enduring appeal and dealing a body blow to the Congress and ally RJD.
The massive scale of the victory of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) can be gauged from the fact that its two main constituents&mdash;BJP and JD(U)&mdash;clocked a nearly 85 per cent strike rate in 101 seats each they had contested. The alliance secured a "200 paar" win for a three-fourths majority with the BJP emerging as the single largest party.
"The people of Bihar, with this massive victory and their unshakable confidence, have taken the state by storm (garda uda diya)," Prime Minister Modi told cheering party workers at the BJP headquarters in Delhi in the evening after accepting their greetings by waving a 'gamcha'.
While the BJP won 89 seats, up from 74 in 2020, Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal(U) tasted success in 85 constituencies, up from 43. The majority mark in the 243-member Assembly is 122.
The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) seat tally slipped to 25 from 75, and Congress bagged only six out of the 61 seats it contested, down from 19.
Hailing the NDA's huge win, Prime Minister Modi said it has given a new 'MY -- Mahila and Youth' formula with the people destroying the "communal MY formula of the jungle raj people".
In an apparent reference to the Muslim-Yadav support base of the RJD, Modi said that in Bihar some parties had formulated an "MY formula" but today's victory has given a new "positive MY -- Mahila and Youth" formula.
Overcoming anti-incumbency, Chief Minister Kumar thanked the people of the state for giving a "landslide" victory for the NDA.
"People of the state have expressed their confidence in our government by giving us a landslide mandate in the polls. For this, I bow to all the esteemed voters of the state, and express my heartfelt gratitude and thanks," Kumar wrote in a post on X. He also expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for his continuous support to the NDA government in the state.
A mix of state and central welfare schemes, including the monetary aid to women as part of the NDA's women-centric outreach, a constant reminder of the "jungle raj" during the RJD rule by Modi and other NDA campaigners, and the viability of a double-engine government appears to have largely contributed to their landslide victory.
Navigating the complex caste and community dynamics, NDA's wider caste alliance that dented the Mahagatbandhan's core vote bank, multiple welfare schemes targeted at Economically Backward Class (EBC) households, huge support from women who overwhelmingly supported the liquor ban, and from young voters also helped the five-party alliance.
One of the most striking features of this election was the extraordinary turnout of women voters.
The NDA also appeared to have done well in Muslim-dominated constituencies, signalling a possible change in voting pattern in these segments.
Prashant Kishor's Jan Suraaj Party (JSP), dubbed the 'X factor' in the Bihar polls and whose candidates were in the fray in all but three of the seats, came a cropper.
The party, floated by the former political strategist, failed to galvanise votes in its favour, despite a high-pitched campaign and raising pressing issues such as unemployment, migration and dearth of industries.
Celebrations erupted at the offices of the BJP and JD(U) in Patna, situated across the street from each other, with workers playing drums, bursting firecrackers and chanting slogans in praise of their respective leaders.
In front of the residence of the chief minister, the JD(U)'s 75-year-old national president, party workers posed for photographs holding aloft posters with the caption 'Tiger Abhi Zinda Hai'.
'Tiger Abhi Zinda Hai'&mdash;the title of a Bollywood blockbuster&mdash;neatly captured the gist of Chief Minister Kumar's "neither tired nor in a mood to retire" stance.
Shocking his rivals, Kumar, an electrical engineering graduate, had a point to prove in the latest assembly elections, which were held amid speculation of a fatigue factor, if not downright anti-incumbency, made worse by rumours of his indifferent health.
He is Bihar's longest serving chief minister, whilst also holding the post for his 9th term.
In the run-up to the high stakes polls, Kumar, who has earned the nickname of 'sushasan babu' (the man of good governance), aggressively doled out benefits like hike in social security pensions and stipends for Jeevika and Aasha and Aanganwadi workers, besides the much touted 'Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana', as part of which over one crore women have got Rs 10,000 each in their bank accounts.
Kumar was not in the electoral fray this time too as he has consistently taken the legislative council route to enter the state legislature.
BJP's performance would further cement its position as the numero uno political force in the country and also offset whatever setback that might have been caused by last year's Lok Sabha polls when the party had to rely on allies to remain in power in the Centre.
The NDA's tally in Bihar comes in the backdrop of the BJP's back-to-back stunning performances in Delhi, Maharashtra and Haryana. Last year, the BJP had won 132 of the 149 seats it had contested in Maharashtra.
The strong backing to Chief Minister Kumar by Modi and his ministers during their poll campaign also appeared to have paid rich dividends for the JD(U).
The LJP(RV), headed by Union minister Chirag Paswan, the self-declared "Hanuman" of the Prime Minister, which was left with only 28 candidates in the fray, with nomination papers of one of its nominees getting rejected during scrutiny, won 19 seats.
Union minister Jitan Ram Manjhi's Hindustani Awam Morcha and Rajya Sabha MP Upendra Kushwah's Rashtriya Lok Morcha, both junior partners in the NDA, won five and four seats respectively. Both parties had contested six seats each. To consolidate Dalit support, the BJP banked on its two key allies&mdash;Manjhi and Paswan.
The Mahagathbandhan, which includes the RJD, the Congress and three Left parties, faced a crushing defeat, notwithstanding surveys and opinion polls showing its Chief Ministerial candidate Tejashwi Yadav as the most preferred leader for the top post.
Yadav, who according to Prime Minister Modi was declared a chief ministerial candidate after the RJD put a "katta" on the head of its alliance partners, was trailing initially before he recovered ground in Raghopur, the RJD stronghold. He defeated BJP candidate Satish Kumar by 14,532 votes.
Mahagatbahndhan also struggled to retain its strongholds. The Muslim and Yadav (M-Y) combination traditionally formed the bedrock of the RJD's support base in Bihar.
It was an embarrassing loss of face for the Congress, often seen as a "weak link" in the INDIA bloc. Rahul Gandhi's poll campaign against the BJP that revolved around his "Vote Chori" (vote theft) allegations failed to garner any support.
Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owais's AIMIM, which has often been accused of being a "B-team" of the BJP, won five seats. The party had contested 32 seats.
Indian Inclusive Party got one seat with its Saharsa candidate Indrajeet Prasad Gupta defeating BJP's Alok Ranjan.
The NDA's victory in the Bihar polls, which were held in two phases amid alleged irregularities in the revision of electoral rolls by the Election Commission, is also significant as many see it as a prelude to assembly polls in West Bengal and Assam, scheduled to be held in the next six months.

People of Bihar wait with bated breath for Friday's counting of votes polled in the recent assembly elections, which will decide whether JD(U) supremo Nitish Kumar, the state's longest-serving chief minister, will get a record fifth term or whether a change in government will be witnessed.
Bihar registered a historic voter turnout of 67.13 per cent in the elections to the 243-member assembly in two phases on November 6 and 11.
Counting of votes will begin at 8 am, and the trends and results are likely to start trickling in by 9 am. A total of 46 counting centres have been enumerated by the Election Commission across 38 districts in the state. A total of 7.45 crore voters were eligible to decide the electoral fate of 2,616 candidates.
According to a statement issued by the EC on Wednesday, EVMs and VVPATs used in the elections have been sealed inside the strong rooms under a double-lock system. "Under the presence of central observers and agents deputed by candidates, the entire process will be videographed," the statement said.
Two-tier security has been ensured at the counting centres. "While the inner tier has been assigned to central armed paramilitary forces (CAPFs), state police have been deployed at the outer rung. Also, 24/7 CCTV surveillance and other security provisions have been put in place," the statement said.
A control room has been set up within every strong room campus, which will be staffed with senior district officials. All district election officers and returning officers of the assembly constituencies concerned have been directed to frequently inspect the strong rooms.
Exit polls have been nearly unanimous in predicting a clean sweep for the NDA, of which the JD(U) is a part, much to the annoyance of the opposition INDIA bloc. Tejashwi Yadav, the young RJD leader whom the opposition coalition has named its chief ministerial candidate, rubbished these predictions and claimed Mahagathbandhan would form the government with a thumping majority.
The NDA in Bihar comprises five parties, though a bulk of seats, in the 243-strong assembly, were contested by JD(U) and BJP, both of which fielded candidates in 101 constituencies each. The INDIA bloc includes RJD, Congress, CPI(ML) Liberation, other Left parties, and Vikasheel Insaan Party (VIP).
Prominent candidates of both alliances who are in the fray include Deputy Chief Ministers Samart Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, RJD's Tejashwi Yadav, JJD's Tej Pratap and Bihar Congress president Rajesh Kumar.

Addressing a press conference in Patna, Yadav, the chief ministerial candidate of the opposition bloc, also said heads of all Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) and Primary Marketing Cooperative Societies (Vyapar Mandals) will also be given the status of &lsquo;people's representatives&rsquo; in the state.
The announcements come two days ahead of the first phase of voting in the state on November 6.
&ldquo;All farmers will be given Rs 300 per quintal of paddy and Rs 400 for wheat as a bonus over the Minimum Support Price (MSP), if the INDIA bloc comes to power," Yadav said.
"Besides, we are also planning to give honorarium to managers of registered 8,400 vyapar mandals and PACS in the state, if we form the government," he said.

The banner, the image of which has gone viral on social media, carried only a large photograph of RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav.&nbsp;

This is the first press conference of the Mahagathbandhan leaders amid the stalemate over seat-sharing arrangements among the INDIA bloc constituents for the assembly polls.&nbsp;
After days of squabbling that left them pitted against each other in several constituencies of poll-bound Bihar, the Congress and the RJD on Wednesday (October 22) tried to mend fences and put up a cohesive fight against the formidable ruling NDA. Senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot flew down to hold talks with RJD president Lalu Prasad and his son and heir apparent Tejashwi Yadav on Wednesday.
"I had a good discussion with Lalu ji. An impression has been created as if the INDIA bloc was fraying at the seams in Bihar. It is far from the truth. If there is a friendly fight in five or ten seats out of 243, it is not something very big. We are going to take on the NDA as a team. Tomorrow, there will be a press conference where all doubts will be put to rest," Gehlot told reporters on Wednesday after meeting Lalu and Tejashwi.&nbsp;
BJP However, commenting on the poster controversy, BJP's state media in-charge, Danish Iqbal, in a social media post, wrote, "The ongoing infighting within the INDIA bloc is now out in the open... Earlier, Rahul Gandhi did not consider Tejashwi as the face (of the alliance). Now, Tejashwi has removed Rahul Gandhi from the posters. This poster itself is a declaration of the breakup of the Grand Alliance."&nbsp;

The BJP on Thursday alleged that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi-led "Voter Adhikar Yatra" in Bihar has crossed all "limits of insult, hate and tastelessness", as it said abuses were directed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mother during the campaign.
The BJP on its X handle refrained from posting the video of the incident but its content shared online by a few handles show some unidentified people using a Hindi abuse for Modi from a dais raised during the Yatra.

PTI can not independently confirm the authenticity of the video.
The BJP said, "Tejashwi (Yadav) and Rahul are behind the use of such a filthy language that it cannot be repeated from a public platform... Such lowliness was never seen before in politics. This Yatra has crossed all limits of insult, hate and tastelessness." They have used a very vulgar language against the prime minister's late mother, it said.
The ruling party claimed that the choice of such an abuse for his mother shows the state of the opposition's desperation as Gandhi and Yadav had earlier invited leaders like M K Stalin and Revanth Reddy, chief ministers of Tamil Nadu and Telangana respectively, who are accused of "insulting" people of Bihar.
People of Bihar will not forgive Gandhi and Yadav, the main campaigner for the RJD, for such a mistake even of they apologise thousands of time, the BJP said, calling the incident "extremely shameful".

CPI (ML) Liberation general secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya asserted "ample hints have been dropped" that RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav is the INDIA bloc's chief ministerial candidate in Bihar, though there may not have been a formal announcement.
The remarks came at a press conference here on Monday in response to a query about Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's apparent reluctance to project Yadav, though the RJD leader has openly pitched for making Gandhi "the next prime minister".
"The wise can heed the hints," quipped Bhattacharya, adding, "Only yesterday, you all saw Rahul and Tejashwi riding motorcycles next to each other (during the 'Voter Adhikar Yatra'). Ample hints have been given, from time to time, even though no formal announcement has been made by the INDIA bloc." On Sunday, at a press conference in Araria district, Gandhi had side-stepped a query on whether a consensus has been reached on declaring Yadav as the chief ministerial candidate for the upcoming Bihar assembly polls.
This had led senior NDA leaders like BJP's Ravi Shankar Prasad to claim that there was a trust deficit between the RJD and Congress, which would prove to be the INDIA bloc's undoing in the polls.
"There is full clarity in the INDIA bloc as to who would be the CM if the coalition wins power. On the other hand, there is full clarity in the NDA that (CM) Nitish Kumar is, for the moment, being presented as its face, but a game is being played behind the scenes," Bhattacharya claimed.
Kumar heads the JD(U), which has less than 50 MLAs in the 243-strong assembly. The BJP, which is numerically superior, is yet to have its own chief minister in the state.
Bhattacharya, who is also one of the petitioners challenging the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar, demanded that the Election Commission "extend the August 31 deadline" for filing claims and objections with regard to wrongful deletion of names in the draft rolls.
"A large number of people whose names have been deleted happen to be migrant workers. They must get more time. Also, the EC has been dragging its feet on approving more than 1,000 booth-level agents nominated by us. It must act quickly," he said.
"For long, the EC had been maintaining that it received no claims from political parties. Today, it has conceded that 10 objections have been received, all from CPI(ML) Liberation. We will continue doing our bit, but wonder what the BJP's celebrated machinery has been doing. Does the party have no sympathy for all those whose names have been dropped?" asked Bhattacharya.
Meanwhile, in a related development, Tejashwi Yadav came out with a video in which he has appealed to the RJD rank and file to help the people "whose names may have gotten deleted because of EC's dishonesty or who want to get enrolled as voters for the first time".
"Only a few days are left for the yatra to conclude. Our workers... should devote themselves completely to the task... there will be plenty of time for the work," added Yadav.

A heated exchange ensued between the opposition and the ruling side, prompting Speaker Nand Kishor Yadav to adjourn the proceeding till 2 pm.&nbsp;

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Tuesday said he has written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, urging him to declare paramilitary force personnel, who die while defending the country, martyrs.
Yadav, who shared the May 14 letter on X on Tuesday, has also sought "equal respect, recognition and facilities" for paramilitary personnel, akin to those extended to the Indian Armed Forces.
"Personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Border Security Force (BSF), Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), and Assam Rifles (AR) play a crucial role in maintaining internal security, fighting terrorism, and guarding the country's borders," the letter read.
The RJD leader also claimed that when these personnel make the supreme sacrifice, their family members "do not get compensation and honour, similar to those of the Army, Navy, and Air Force", and termed these "unfair and discriminatory".
"Martyrs from paramilitary forces deserve the same dignity and benefits which are given to the regular armed forces posthumously. Both forces contribute equally. The central government must declare paramilitary martyrs as 'battle casualties' so that their families get enhanced compensation and benefits," the RJD leader said in the letter.
Their family members should also get government support, including jobs, pension and educational assistance, he said.
The RJD leader also sought implementation of the liberalised pension scheme for families of deceased personnel and extension of 'One Rank One Pension' (OROP) facilities to those in paramilitary forces, working in similar risk conditions.
"I urge the Union home minister to change the existing policy on an urgent basis ... and the central government must ensure equality, dignity, and justice for all security forces," Yadav wrote in the letter.
He said several personnel of the paramilitary forces, hailing from the state, made a supreme sacrifice in the line of duty during 'Operation Sindoor'.
RJD spokesperson Manoj Jha held a press conference here on Yadav's letter to the union home minister.
Jha spoke to PTI Video and shared his views on the controversy around the choice of leaders selected for the all-party delegations that will travel abroad to project India's national consensus and resolute approach to combating terrorism in the wake of the Pahalgam attack.
"Sending delegations overseas was much needed. We saw that several countries, which were provided help by India during their time of need and natural calamities, didn't act friendly...There was a need to reaffirm 'India as an idea'," the RJD leader said.
He also said, "The PM could have done this (selection of political leaders for diplomatic delegations) in a better way. He could have called Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, and senior leaders of all parties, such as RJD's Lalu Prasad, before selecting members of these delegations. This would have prevented the present scenario where statements and counter-statements are being issued." Condemning Madhya Pradesh minister Vijay Shah's remarks about Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, Jha said, "A special investigation team would be constituted to probe the remarks made by him against the Army officer. His comments are highly objectionable and shameful. This is an attack on the morale of the armed forces".
Shah has stoked controversy by calling Colonel Qureishi, who had briefed the media about 'Operation Sindoor', the "sister of terrorists".

The RJD leader questioned the state&rsquo;s priorities, alleging that students and women are being denied basic facilities while funds are being diverted for self-promotion. "There is nothing on the ground for students and women, but billions of rupees are being looted by officials for propaganda," he said.

"Nitish Kumar is spending ₹2.25 billion on dialogue around 'zero issues' instead of addressing the real problems plaguing the state," Yadav remarked, adding that the move reflects misplaced priorities and disregard for the welfare of the people.

After Patna High Court on Thursday set aside the state government's amendments to increase the reservation for Backward Classes, extremely Backward Classes, Scheduled Tribes, and Scheduled Castes in jobs and educational institutions, RJD&nbsp; leader Tejashwi Yadav targeted BJP and said the party has always been against reservation and tried its best to stop caste-based census.
While speaking with ANI, Yadav said, "We increased the reservation for the most backward, Dalits, tribals and backward society. At that time also, we had requested the Government of India to put it in Schedule 9... Some people of BJP always want to stop such work by filing PILs and the caste-based census was also stopped in the same way."
Stepping up his attacks on the BJP, Yadav said, "The people of BJP have always been against reservation. We had not only doubts but full confidence that these people would try to stop and end the increase in reservations for Dalits, tribals, backward and most backward classes. These people had also tried their best to stop the aste-based survey of our government at every level."
The RJD leader further added, "We are hurt by this and this work was done very impartially. We had given the reservation to the ones who deserved it. We had also requested to include it in Schedule 9 in the Eastern Zonal Council meeting held on 10 December 2023 in Patna under the chairmanship of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, but even after six months, the BJP government did not do so. This shows that the BJP is against caste census and reservation. We continued to demand this in the Lok Sabha elections."
Yadav also targeted the JDU party headed by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and criticised it for remaining silent on the issue. "I don't know why the JDU people and Nitish Kumar are silent. If the Bihar government does not go to the Supreme Court, then the Rashtriya Janata Dal will go to the Supreme Court."
Notably, a division bench of Chief Justice K Vinod Chandran and Justice Harish Kumar set aside the Bihar Reservation of Vacancies in Posts and Services (Amendment) Act, 2023, and The Bihar Reservation Act, 2023 as ultra vires and violative of the equality clauses under Articles 14, 15 and 16.
The Bihar legislature had in 2023 amended both Acts and increased the reservation from 50 per cent to 65 per cent in jobs and higher educational institutions.&nbsp;
Based on the findings of the caste survey in the state, the state government increased the quota for SC to 20 per cent, Scheduled Tribes to two per cent, Extremely Backward Classes to 25 per cent, and Backward Class to 18 per cent.
With the enactments, Bihar has one the highest reservation percentage among larger states, reaching a total of 75 per cent. This includes a 10 per cent quota for the economically weaker section (EWS) among the upper castes.&nbsp;

Yadav said, "From 15th August, people will start getting freedom from unemployment. If our Govt comes to power, the process of providing jobs will start from 15th August. On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, we will provide Rs 1 lakh to our sisters belonging to the poor household, every year. We will provide gas cylinders at ₹500."
"If our INDIA alliance is voted to power, we will give government jobs to one crore youth across the country...Today unemployment is our biggest enemy and BJP people did not talk about this, they had promised to give 2 crore jobs but we do what we say and will give 1 crore jobs," Yadav added.
