IPL broadcaster Star Sports on Monday denied airing the audio of any personal conversation involving Rohit Sharma after the Indian captain accused the channel of "breaching" his privacy despite his requests to stop the recording.

IPL broadcaster Star Sports on Monday denied airing the audio of any personal conversation involving Rohit Sharma after the Indian captain accused the channel of "breaching" his privacy despite his requests to stop the recording.
Rohit was seen asking the broadcasters to shut down the audio while recording him during his chat with Kolkata Knight Riders' Abhishek Nayar after an IPL fixture. On Sunday, he accused the channel of airing a private conversation.
The channel denied the charge in a statement.
"The clip, taken during a training session on May 16 at Wankhede stadium, for which Star Sports had authorised access, momentarily showed the senior player in conversation with his friends on the sidelines. No audio from this conversation was either recorded or broadcast.
"The clip, which only showed the senior player requesting for the audio of his conversation to not be recorded, got featured in Star Sports' live coverage of pre-match preparations and lacked editorial relevance beyond this," the channel stated.
The audio of the chat was posted by KKR on their social media handle leading to speculation about Rohit's future with Mumbai Indians. Following the controversy, the video was taken down by KKR.
"The need to get exclusive content focused only on views and engagement will one day break the trust between the fans, cricketers and cricket. Let better sense prevail," Rohit said on Sunday.
The channel said it was committed to protecting players' privacy.
"Respect for players&rsquo; privacy while bringing fans, moments of intense action and preparations, sits at the core of this ethos, which the broadcaster remains committed to," it stated.

Meanwhile, Byju's wanted the board to encash a bank guarantee worth an estimated Rs 140 crore to honour the current agreement.&nbsp;
Byju's, which was one of the sponsors of the FIFA World Cup, plans to lay off around 2500 of its 50,000 workforce by March in its aim to become profitable.

BCCI president Roger Binny has been served a conflict of interest notice by the Indian board's ethics officer Vineet Saran.
Sanjeev Gupta has raised the conflict of interest allegation against the BCCI head. He has alleged that Binny is conflicted as his daughter-in-law, Mayanti Langer works for Star Sports which has home season media rights for broadcasting Indian cricket.
Saran has directed the World Cup-winning cricketer to file his written response by December 20 along with an affidavit.&nbsp;
World Cup winner Binny had become the 36th BCCI president in October, replacing former India captain Sourav Ganguly.

After a three-day bidding war over the IPL media rights for the 2023-27 cycle, Star Sports India was confirmed to be the official TV broadcaster for the league in the country. Meanwhile, Mukesh Ambani-led Viacom 18 bagged the digital rights for the next 5-year cycle.

Meanwhile, the digital rights of the marquee league surpassed the value of TV rights for the time. Viacom 18 won the digital and non-exclusive rights for Rs 23,758 crores. Times Internet and Viacom won the overseas rights for Rs. 1,057 crore.
While congratulating all the stakeholders, Jay Shah wrote that BCCI will utilize the revenue generated from the IPL to strengthen the domestic cricket structure and spruce up facilities across India.
