A pigeon fitted with devices, which appear to be a camera and a microchip, was caught from a fishing boat off the Paradip coast of Odisha with the police suspecting that the bird was being used for spying.

Some fishermen found the pigeon perched on their trawler a few days ago. The bird was captured and handed over to the marine police on Wednesday.
"Our veterinarians will examine the bird. We will seek help of the State Forensic Science Laboratory for examining the devices attached to its legs. It appears that the devices are a camera and a microchip," Jagatsinghpur Superintendent of Police Rahul PR told PTI.
It also seems like something has been scribbled on the wings of the bird in a language unknown to the local police.
"Experts' help will also be sought to find out what is written," the SP said.
Pitambar Behera, an employee of the fishing trawler 'Sarathi', said he saw the pigeon perched on the boat.
"Suddenly I noticed that some instruments were attached to the bird's legs. I also found that something is written on its wings. I could not understand it as it was not in Odia," Behera said.
He caught the bird as it came closer.
The pigeon was found on the trawler when it was anchored around 35 kilometres off the coast of Konark around 10 days back.
Behera said he fed the bird broken rice for the past several days.

North Korea carried out an "important final-stage test" for the development of a spy satellite, which it will complete by April next year, state media said on Monday.
The report comes a day after Seoul's military said it had detected launches by Pyongyang of two medium-range ballistic missiles, the North's latest in a year of unprecedented weapons tests.
Analysts say developing such a satellite would provide North Korea with cover for testing banned intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs), as they share much of the same technology.
The launches were "an important final-stage test for the development of (a) reconnaissance satellite", a spokesperson with the North's National Aerospace Development Administration (NADA) said, according to the official Korean Central News Agency on Monday.

Mizan identified the men as Hossein Ordoukhanzadeh, Shahin Imani Mahmoudabad, Milad Ashrafi Atbatan and Manouchehr Shahbandi Bojandi, without elaborating on their backgrounds.
Three other defendants were sentenced to between five and 10 years in prison for crimes against the country's security, complicity in kidnapping and possession of weapons, the judiciary's website said after the Wednesday ruling.

The Air Force officer raised alarm about the espionage threat in an internal memo. Major Fox reportedly said that data collection by China would "present a costly national security risk". He warned that the case may cause grave damage to US strategic advantages, and that it fits a pattern of Chinese subnational espionage. Major Fox accused Beijing of using commercial economic development projects to get close to Defense Department facilities.

However, the US Air Force has not taken an official position on the matter. The force called Major Fox's comments his personal effort to raise awareness of potential vulnerabilities.

The Paris prosecutor&rsquo;s office opened a probe on Tuesday into allegations by investigative news website Mediapart and two of its journalists who were allegedly&nbsp;spied on using Pegasus spyware.
The investigation will examine 10 different charges, including whether there was a breach of personal privacy, fraudulent access to personal electronic devices, and criminal association.
Investigative website&nbsp;Mediapart said in a series of tweets that Morocco&rsquo;s secret services had used Pegasus to spy on the mobile phones of two of its reporters.
Morocco has published an official statement rejecting what it called &ldquo;unfounded and false allegations&rdquo;.
Pegasus maker Israeli company&nbsp;NSO said its product was intended only for use by vetted government intelligence and law enforcement agencies to fight terrorism and crime.

During interrogation, Junwe told the BSF that after his business partner was arrested recently by the Lucknow Anti-Terrorist Squad, he was not able to get an Indian visa. So he tried to enter India illegally via Bangladesh.
The BSF said that Junwe is a "wanted criminal" and all intelligence agencies are working together to unravel his links.
