The Noida Authority on Friday bulldozed encroachments into common spaces by several apartment owners in Grand Omaxe housing society, where a spat between politician Shrikant Tyagi and another resident over the same issue had triggered a major row last month.
Tyagi was arrested after he was caught on tape abusing and shoving a woman who protested when palm trees were being planted in the open space in front of Tyagi’s ground-floor apartment.
The razing of encroachments, mostly temporary constructions outside ground-floor apartments, comes in the wake of a 48-hour notice by the authority.
Multiple excavators and around half a dozen dumper trucks were used to carry out the demolition, Noida authority officials said.  The exercise was carried out amid heavy police presence.
Many society residents, who had done encroachments, initially tried to stop the bulldozers and trucks from entering the society with some of them even sitting down in protest, urging them to spare their flats.
ACP (Central Noida 1) Abdul Qadir said, "After the initial resistance there was no law and order situation in the process. Adequate security personnel have been deployed."

The Noida police have booked around 75 people, mostly members of the Tyagi community, who had protested in support of jailed politician Shrikant Tyagi outside his society here, officials said on Thursday.
  The protesters, including six named persons, have been booked for violating CrPC Section 144 imposed in Gautam Buddh Nagar district, according to the FIR lodged on complaint of the local police station in-charge.  Among those named in the FIR are farmer leader Mangay Ram Tyagi, who had led the protest, Gyaneshvar Pradhan, Sushant Tyagi, Aadesh Tyagi, Ravindra Rajput and Sobha Tyagi, the officials said.  "A protest was held outside the Grand Omaxe society on Tuesday and Wednesday by Mangay Ram Tyagi and his supporters. The protest was not in accordance with the law neither any permission was sought for it. In this context, an FIR has been lodged at Phase 2 police station and the matter is being further investigated," Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Noida) Saad Miyan Khan said.
According to the FIR, amid CrPC 144 restrictions, the protesters had disrupted people's movement on the road and also "instilled fear and terror" among the society residents with their act.
They have also been booked under Indian Penal Code sections 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by government officials), 147 (rioting), 341 (wrongful restraint) and under provisions of the Criminal Law Amendment Act, the FIR showed.  On Tuesday evening, scores of Tyagi community members from Noida, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Hapur and other places had gathered on the service lane outside the Grand Omaxe society in Sector 93B and stayed there till Wednesday evening before calling off the protest.
       "We are here in support of our community members. Our only demand is that same law should be applied to everyone. There are many residents who have encroached common area of the society but only Shrikant Tyagi's property was bulldozed and his plants removed," Dharmendra Tyagi, who came from Ghaziabad, had told PTI on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, a row erupted at Grand Omaxe over plantation of more than a dozen palm trees on alleged common area of the society by the Tyagi family.
A major controversy had erupted on August 5 at the society when Tyagi was confronted by a woman resident over his alleged encroachment of the common ground area of the apartments. The Noida Authority had bulldozed a portion of Tyagi's house and removed trees planted by his family allegedly on common areas of the society.
  Tyagi, who flexed political connections and claimed association with the ruling BJP, was caught on camera assaulting the woman resident of the society after he was challenged by her. He was also heard hurling expletives at the woman, who objected to his installing plants in the common area.
  In the wake of the controversy, the BJP had denied links with Tyagi, who had remained at large for four days before being arrested and booked under the Gangsters Act, among other charges. He is currently in jail and the matter for his bail is in the Allahabad High Court.

BJP's local unit chief Manoj Gupta trashed allegations against Sharma and urged Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister to order a probe by the CBI or an independent probe agency into this whole episode.
The allegations of Anu Tyagi against the BJP leader and Lok Sabha MP came during her address to scores of Tyagi community members who had gathered in protest outside her Grand Omaxe society in Sector 93B Wednesday afternoon.
"My fight is with Mahesh Sharma alone. There is a threat to us from him and I need security," she alleged.
Sharma had reached the Grand Omaxe society on August 6 evening amid the controversy surrounding Shrikant Tyagi assaulting a woman resident of the society a day earlier over alleged encroachment by him.
Tyagi had till then claimed being a BJP functionary while the party had denied any links with him in the wake of the controversy.
Taking note of Anu Tyagi's comment on Wednesday, BJP's Noida unit chief Gupta came out in support of Sharma.
In a statement, Gupta said there have been issues of encroachment in the Grand Omaxe society and the Noida Authority is handling those matters. He said neither the BJP nor the party MP has made any complaints of encroachment or are interfering in the Noida Authority's probe into the issue.
"At present, some videos are floated on social media in which sister Anu Tyagi is heard claiming threat to life from our MP (Sharma)," he said, adding Sharma is a doctor by profession and a popular public representative with no links to crime.
"It's a conspiracy to malign the image of our MP. The BJP or its MPs do not harbour ill intention against any community or caste. BJP belongs to everyone. We respect the Tyagi community as well as all other communities and value them," he added.
Further, Gupta said, "According to the wishes of sister Anu Tyagi, we request the Chief Minister through our party that an order should be passed for a probe into the whole episode by CBI or any other independent investigation agency." He said his party or MPs do not do any work in public life out of any personal hatred or ill-will towards anyone.
"If any common citizen is harassed by any person or any government machinery, then our party and MPs are with him to protect their civil rights," Gupta added.
Noida BJP spokesperson Tanmay Shankar told PTI that the request letter to the chief minister by Gupta was yet to be sent.

More than a dozen palm trees were again transplanted outside the ground-floor apartment of Shrikant Tyagi on Tuesday, nearly two months after the now-jailed politician was caught on camera allegedly assaulting a woman resident of his society in Sector 93B for objecting to the plantation.
The well-grown palm trees, around 15 in number, were transplanted in Grand Omaxe society's common area in the backyard of Tyagi's apartment even as the local police officials remained deployed there on duty.
While the residents of the society who had objected to the plantation in the common area in August expressed concern once again on Tuesday, a team of Noida Authority officials rushed to the spot in the afternoon and warned the Tyagi family to have the trees removed in two days or the officials would be forced to “remove the encroachment” themselves.
Tyagi, who flexed political connections and claimed association with the ruling BJP, was caught on camera assaulting a woman co-resident of the society in the first week of August. He was also heard hurling expletives at the woman, who objected to the plantation by him in common area. Later, an FIR was lodged and he remained at large for four days before being arrested and booked under the Gangsters Act and other relevant IPC sections.
He is currently in jail and the matter for bail is in the Allahabad High Court.
“Yes, the trees have been planted today and we have raised our concerns. The police have remained deployed in the society since last month. Since it was a working day and many of the residents who usually come out for common causes were away at work, there was not much resistance to the plantation today. The residents, of course, are concerned but there is no panic. The other activities are continuing in the society as usual,” Avinash Mathur, president of Grand Omaxe apartment owners association, told PTI.
The Noida Authority team, led by Additional CEO Praveen Mishra, inspected the site and issued a warning to the Tyagi family to “remove the encroachment” within two days, else it would be forcefully removed, an official said.
The warning was also issued to other residents of the society who also appeared to have encroached common areas, the official added.
According to officials, in the wake of the whole episode in August, the Noida Authority had issued encroachment notices to around 300 residents of Grand Omaxe.
The authority had bulldozed a portion of the porch constructed by Tyagi and removed the palm trees in August, citing violation of rules.

Disdained politician Shrikant Tyagi on Monday moved a surrender application in Noida court saying he was not evading. Tyagi's lawyers reportedly said their client was ready to cooperate, and was not hiding.
