The Shaheen-III is a surface-to-surface ballistic missile. It has a range of 2,750 km, making it capable of reaching India's northeast, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, according to Pakistani media outlet Dawn. The Shaheen-III was first tested in March 2015.
The missile reportedly has a solid-fuel system for rapid response. It also has a Post-Separation Altitude Correction system, for better trajectory and evasion of anti-missile defence systems, according to the Dawn report.
The Pakistani army claimed that the latest test was "aimed at revalidating various design and technical parameters of the weapon system". After the successful test, Pakistani military personnel were seen celebrating and raising religious slogans in the official video.

Cyclone Gulab&nbsp;has resurrected as severe cyclonic storm Shaheen&nbsp;and moved to northeast Arabian Sea and neighbourhood with a speed of about 20 kmph.&nbsp;The weather system is likely to further intensify&nbsp;into a Severe Cyclonic Storm and move west-north westwards skirting Makran coast. Cyclone Shaheen, comes just a week after Cyclone Gulab&nbsp;which made landfall in Odisha and Andhra Pradesh.
However, fishermen from India and neighbouring Indian Ocean countries have been warned not to venture into the sea till October 2. Those already at sea have been advised to move to safer areas.
