Vicky Kaushal said, 'The story to reach the world, to get appreciated, to get resonated, that is everything.'

Shoojit Sircar&rsquo;s &lsquo;Sardar Udham&rsquo; earned five prestigious honours, including Best Hindi Film, at the 69th National Awards, but Vicky Kaushal, who portrayed the titular character, was not awarded Best Actor. The trophy went to Allu Arjun, the star of &lsquo;Pushpa: The Rise&rsquo;.
In an interview with India Today, Vicky was asked if he was disappointed about not winning the National Award.
He responded, &lsquo;Nahi! The thing is that many times, when you get a film, and get to work with a director that you like, you think that&rsquo;s where your dream has come true, which is genuinely true for Sadar Udham. I am not just saying for the heck of it. Being a Punjabi, that topic, that man, that story is very, very close to my heart.&rsquo;
Vicky further shared, &lsquo;We have been listening to this story since our childhood days and always used to wonder why not many people know about this. So, for me, to eventually get the opportunity was a big deal and, after that, what I got or didn&rsquo;t get, everything was a bonus. For me, the story to reach the world, to get appreciated, to get resonated, that is everything. After that, for the film to get all the rewards are all bonuses. I don&rsquo;t have any qualms&rsquo;.
&lsquo;Sardar Udham&rsquo; also starred Banita Sandhu and Amol Parashar in pivotal roles. The film is a biographical account of Udham Singh, a freedom fighter from Punjab who assassinated Michael O&rsquo;Dwyer in London to avenge the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre in Amritsar.

The film, starring Ajay Devgn, is set during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. It is about Indian Air Force Squadron leader Vijay Karnik, then in-charge of the Bhuj Air Force Base, who with the help of 300 local women, reconstructed the damaged landing strip in 72 hours.

The biographical action film is based on the life of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, who fought against the terrorists during the 2008 attacks at Mumbai’s Taj Palace Hotel and was eventually killed. Adivi Sesh, Prakash Raj, Sobhita Dhulipala played the lead role in the film, which was produced by actor Mahesh Babu under his studio G. Mahesh Babu Entertainment, in a collaboration with Sony Pictures International Productions and A+S Movies.

The action-thriller, directed by Meghna Gulzar, featured Alia Bhatt as an undercover RAW agent, Sehmat Khan. An adaptation of Harinder Sikka's novel ‘Calling Sehmat’, the film narrates the story of Indian Research and Analysis Wing agent who is married into a family of military officers in Pakistan to get valuable information to India.

The Vicky Kaushal and Yami Gautam starrer is based on the 2016 surgical strike executed by the Indian Army on suspected militants who attacked an army base in Uri, Jammu and Kashmir.
