Launching a stinging attack at the Centre, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut on Monday said that the govt is working like the Taliban as it is terrorising people by using CBI and ED.&nbsp;
Speaking with ANI, Raut said, like the Taliban uses weapons to target its enemy, the Narendra Modi government is using both the federal investigative agencies to target and eliminate their enemies.&nbsp;
Raut's comments came after a team of CBI officials showed up at Rabri Devi's residence in Patna for questioning in the land-for-jobs scam.

Deshpande said that he would have slapped Raut as obscene language cannot be tolerated. The MNS leader reportedly added that Raut's "mental balance" has been disturbed after spending time in prison in an alleged money laundering case.

However, MLA Sada Sarvankar from the camp led by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde dismissed the claim and asked, "Is Sanjay Raut a cashier?" Raut in a tweet claimed the Rs 2,000 crore was a preliminary figure and this was 100 per cent true. He also told reporters that a builder close to the ruling dispensation shared this information with him.
The Rajya Sabha member said his claim was backed by proof which he would disclose soon.
The Election Commission on Friday recognised the Eknath Shinde-led faction as the real Shiv Sena and ordered allocation of the 'bow and arrow' poll symbol to it.
In a 78-page order on the protracted battle for control of the organisation, the EC allowed the Uddhav Thackeray faction to keep the "flaming torch" poll symbol allocated to it till the completion of the Assembly bypolls in the state.
Raut on Sunday said Rs 2,000 crore is not a small amount to "purchase" the name Shiv Sena.
"The EC's decision is a deal," he alleged.
"I have reliable information that there has been a deal of Rs 2000 crore to get the Shiv Sena name and its symbol. This is a preliminary figure and is 100 per cent true. Many things will be revealed shortly. Never before this has happened in the country's history," Raut tweeted.
To a question on Union Home Minister Amit Shah's attack on former Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray with "licking soles of those with opposite ideology" jibe, Raut asked, "What is the present chief minister licking? Maharashtra doesn't give importance to what Shah says. The current chief minister has no right to take Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's name." Shah on Saturday said those who chose to "lick the soles" of people with opposite ideologies have found which side truth was on after the EC declared the faction headed by Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde as the real Shiv Sena and gave it the 'bow and arrow' symbol.

Without naming Uddhav Thackeray, Shah also reiterated there was no agreement on sharing the chief minister's post in the run up to the 2019 Assembly polls.
The Shiv Sena broke its alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party after the results of the 2019 Assembly polls were declared, claiming the latter had reneged on a promise to share the CM's post with it.
Uddhav Thackeray subsequently teamed up with the Nationalist Congress Party and the Congress to lead the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), till it fell in June last year after Shinde rebelled.&nbsp;

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut on Sunday claimed last year gave a new "aura" to Congress MP Rahul Gandhi's leadership and if the trend continues in 2023, the country may see a political change in the next general elections.
In his weekly column Rokhthok in the Sena mouthpiece 'Saamana', Raut also said Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah should not sow "seeds of hatred and divisiveness." The Rajya Sabha member said the Ram temple issue has been settled, so no votes can be sought on the matter.
"Hence, a new 'love jihad' angle is being explored. Is this weapon of 'love jihad' being used to win elections and create fear among Hindus?" he asked.
Referring to the death of actor Tunisha Sharma last month and the murder of Shraddha Walkar allegedly by her boyfriend, Raut asserted these were not cases of "love jihad", but maintained that no woman from any community or religion should face atrocities.
"Love jihad" is a term often used by right-wing activists to allege a ploy by Muslim men to lure Hindu women into religious conversion through marriage.

Raut said hope the country is free of fear in 2023.
"What is going on is politics of power. Hope Rahul Gandhi's yatra is successful and achieves its objective," he said.
Gandhi started the Bharat Jodo Yatra, a mass contact initiative, from Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu on September 7, 2022 and it is likely to culminate in Srinagar this month-end.
''The year 2022 has given a new shine and aura to the leadership of Rahul Gandhi. If it remains the same in 2023, we can see a political change in 2024 (general elections)," Raut said.
He further wrote that Prime Minister Modi says "we need to do away with the narrow-minded attitude".
But, the fact is this attitude has grown in the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) rule, the Rajya Sabha member claimed.
"Today's rulers don't want to acknowledge the existence and rights of opposition parties," he said.
Raut further claimed that creating divisions among Hindus and Muslims will lead to a new partition.
"Modi and Shah should not sow seeds of hatred and divisiveness," he said.

The leader's statement has come at a time of heightened tension between Maharashtra and Karnataka over a decades-old border conflict. The issue has also reached the Supreme Court.

Leader of Opposition Ajit Pawar raised the issue of the border dispute earlier in the Assembly and said, "A Lok Sabha member from Maharashtra has been stopped from entering Belgaum. In a meeting with Home Minister Amit Shah, it was decided that no one would be stopped from going there, then how can the collector there take such a decision?"
Responding to the issue raised by Mr Pawar, Chief Minister Shinde said, "For the first time, the Home Minister of the country mediated the border dispute, he has taken this issue seriously, we have presented the side of the border residents to him, Amit Shah has had put forth his point in front of the border dispute, now there should be no politics on the border dispute, we should stand together with the border residents."
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis echoed with Chief Minister Shinde's remarks and said that the government will look into the matter.
Tension prevailed in the border areas of Belagavi on the Maharashtra Karnataka border after members of the Maharastra Ekikaran Samiti (MES) and Nationalist Congress Party staged a protest on Monday demanding they be allowed into Belagavi.
Belagavi Police denied permission to MES to conduct its Maha Melava at the Vaccine Depot ground in Tilakwadi and clamped prohibited orders in Tilakwadi Police Station jurisdiction.
Section 144 has been imposed in the area and heavy security was deployed at the site of the MES convention which was scheduled to take place on the first day of the Winter Session of the Karnataka Assembly today.
The border dispute between Maharashtra and Karnataka goes back to the implementation of the State Reorganization Act, of 1956. The then Maharashtra government had demanded the readjustment of its border with Karnataka.
Following this, a four-member committee was formed by both states. The Maharashtra government had expressed willingness to transfer 260 predominantly Kannada-speaking villages, but the proposal was turned down by Karnataka.
Both governments later approached the Supreme Court on the matter.

"The struggle of the Marathi-speaking population in Belagavi and nearby areas who were included in Karnataka against their wishes during the reorganisation of states, cannot be crushed cruelly," Raut said.

A special court on Wednesday granted bail to Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut in a money laundering case pertaining to the Patra Chawl redevelopment project.
Special Judge M G Deshpande, designated to hear cases pertaining to the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), allowed the bail plea of Raut after hearing arguments from both sides.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had arrested Rajya Sabha member Raut in July this year for his alleged role in financial irregularities in connection with the redevelopment of the Patra Chawl (row tenement) in suburban Goregaon.
He is currently in judicial custody and lodged at the Arthur Road Jail in Mumbai.
Raut had in his bail plea claimed the case against him was a perfect example of "abuse of power" and "political vendetta".
The ED had opposed Raut's plea, saying he played a major role in the money laundering case related to the Patra Chawl redevelopment and acted "behind the curtains" to avoid the money trail.
The ED's probe pertains to alleged financial irregularities in the redevelopment of the Patra Chawl and related financial transactions involving his wife and associates.

The case pertains to Siddharth Nagar locality, also known as Patra Chawl popularly, which lies in the northern Mumbai suburb of Goregaon. The locality which is spread over 47 acres had 672 houses.
The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) took up the redevelopment project of the locality and gave the contract to Guru Ashish Construction Private Limited (GACPL) in 2008. 
One of the directors of GACPL, Pravin Raut is a close aide of Sanjay Raut as per ED claims.
According to the investigative agency, the GACPL, tenants’ society and MHADA had signed a deal that the developer would provide 672 houses for the tenants and develop flats for MHADA. The remaining area was to be sold by the developer. 
14 years since then, the people of the area are stilL waitING for their homes.
The ED claims Pravin Raut sold floor space index (FSI) to nine private developers, for Rs 901.79 crore, without constructing either the rehab portion for the 672 displaced tenants, or the MHADA portion.
Moreover, GACPL launched another project called Meadows, for which it took the booking amount of around Rs 138 crore from flat buyers.
A total of Rs 1,039.79 crore is what the ED has alleged as the total proceeds generated by GACPL.
Sanjay Raut’s wife Varsha Raut has also been named in the case. The ED has alleged that in 2010, Rs 83 lakh, which was part of the sales proceeds, were used by her to buy a flat in Dadar.
Apart from this, ED also alleged that at least eight plots of land were purchased at Kihim beach at Alibaug in Maharashtra in the name of Varsha Raut and Swapna Patkar.

Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Sunday conducted a search at Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut's residence in Mumbai in connection with a money laundering case, an official said.
The action follows multiple summons issued by the ED against Raut, the latest being on July 27.

A special Mumbai court extended Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut's judicial custody by another 14 days in a money laundering case linked to alleged irregularities in the redevelopment of a Mumbai 'chawl', on Monday.
Raut was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on August 1 under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) in connection with alleged financial irregularities in the redevelopment of the Patra Chawl (row tenement) in suburban Goregaon.
He was produced before special PMLA judge MG Deshpande at the end of his judicial remand on Monday.
Raut will remain in jail till 19 September 2022.&nbsp;

Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray on Monday met with family members of party leader Sanjay Raut, arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in a money laundering case, in suburban Mumbai.
Thackeray visited Raut's residence in Bhandup along with party MP Arvind Sawant, MLA Ravindra Waikar and Sena leader Milind Narvekar.
Thackeray met with his elderly mother, wife, daughters and other family members.
Earlier in the day, Raut's brother and party MLA Sunil Raut had told PTI that Thackeray is firmly behind the family of the arrested leader.

An agency team had on Sunday reached his residence in Mumbai's Bhandup area, where they conducted a search, questioned Raut, and by evening, summoned him for questioning at the agency's local office.
Before entering the ED office, Raut told reporters that the federal agency's action was aimed at trying to weaken the Shiv Sena and Maharashtra and that a "false" case was prepared against him.
The ED probe pertains to alleged financial irregularities in the redevelopment of Patra 'chawl' and related financial property transactions involving his wife and alleged associates.
In April, the ED provisionally attached assets worth over Rs 11.15 crore belonging to his wife Varsha Raut and two of his associates as part of this investigation.
The attached properties are in the form of land held by Pravin M Raut, Sanjay Raut's aide and a former director of Guru Ashish Construction Pvt Ltd, at Palghar, Saphale (town in Palghar) and Padgha (in Thane district).
These assets also include a flat in Mumbai's suburb Dadar held by Varsha Raut and eight plots at Kihim beach in Alibaug jointly held by Varsha Raut and Swapna Patkar, wife of Sujit Patkar, a "close associate" of Sanjay Raut, the ED had said.
The agency is understood to have questioned the Sena leader about his "business and other links" with Pravin Raut and Patkar and also about the property deals involving his wife.

Raut, 60, was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on August 1 in connection with alleged financial irregularities in the redevelopment of the Patra Chawl (row tenement) in suburban Goregaon.
After being in the ED's custody initially, the Sena leader was sent to judicial custody for 14 days on August 8.
On Monday, special Judge M G Deshpande, hearing cases related to the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), extended Raut's custody till August 30.
The ED told the court that its probe into the case was still on.
