<p>Social media platform Reddit on Wednesday announced Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar as its brand ambassador.</p>
<p>Sports fans will now have exclusive opportunities to engage with Tendulkar in Reddit communities, the company said in a statement.</p>
<p>Through his official Reddit profile, batting icon Tendulkar will share personal reflections, match insights, and exclusive content.</p>
<p>"In the coming months, Tendulkar will also appear in a new marketing campaign for Reddit in India as well as other markets throughout the world," the statement said.</p>
<p>On his association with Reddit, Tendulkar said, "For me, cricket has always been about that pure connection with people, on and off the field. In getting to know Reddit, what stands out is the sheer passion that brings its communities together," Reddit Vice President International Growth, Durgesh Kaushik said.</p>
<p>Kaushik said Tendulkar's name is synonymous with cricket excellence and he possesses a remarkable ability to transcend boundaries and unite people through his extraordinary talent.</p>
<p>"His presence on the field fostered a powerful sense of community among fans, who were drawn together by their shared admiration for the 'Master Blaster'," he added.</p>
<p>Reddit has been taking steps to tap sports amid a 30 per cent on-year rise in interest on this subject on its platform.</p>
<p>Earlier this year, Reddit announced a partnership with Italian professional football league Serie A and last year, it announced a new partnership program with major US professional sports leagues, including NFL, NBA, MLB, PGA Tour and Nascar, the company said.</p>

<p>England fast bowling great James Anderson enjoyed his battles against Indian stalwarts Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli over the course of his 21-year long career but he found bowling to the latter a tad tougher.</p>
<p>Anderson, who made his Test debut in 2003, retired only last season to cap off a special career. The Lancastrian got success both against Tendulkar and Kohli, dismissing the Indian superstars nine and seven times respectively.</p>
<p>"I had some success early against Kohli the first time he came to England (2014). I really exploited, he had a weakness outside off stump, really exploited that and then the next time I played against him (in 2018) he'd obviously gone away and worked on that and it was like bowling at a different player," Anderson told talkSport.</p>
<p>However, it is worth mentioning that Tendulkar and Kohli were at different stages of their careers when they faced the challenge from Anderson, who continues to play county cricket at 42.</p>
<p>"He'd (Kohli) really taken his game to a different level made it very difficult for not just me but for the bowlers in general and I think I got him out maybe four or five times the first series and then didn't get him out in the next series I played against him.</p>
<p>"Against Sachin for example I didn't feel like there was that sort of shift in dominance with Kohli, there was definitely a shift and yeah I found him a really difficult player to bowl at because he also had that sort of steely mindset." He referred to Tendulkar as a 'God like' figure while Kohli was an in your face character.</p>
<p>"Kohli wanted to get into a battle. He wanted you to know (that). He's very competitive and after that initial success it was pretty difficult to go up against him.</p>
<p>"With someone like Kohli he was a slightly different character to Sachin who was very mild-mannered, very calm at the crease and Virat was more expressive with his emotions and and wore his emotions on his sleeve and you could kind of see it with his captaincy when he celebrated wickets and stuff like that," added Anderson.</p>

<p>The Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy launch is postponed due to a tragic airline crash in Ahmedabad. The series recognizes James Anderson and Sachin Tendulkar, starting June 20.</p>

<p>The launch of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy for the upcoming Test series between India and England has been delayed due to the recent airline tragedy in Ahmedabad which led to 275 deaths.</p>
<p>Previously called the Pataudi Trophy in honour of former India captain Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi, the decision to rename it as Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy (ATT) was taken by the host England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).</p>
<p>"Yes, the launch of ATT Trophy (which was to be held originally on June 14) has been delayed due to the recent tragedy in Ahmedabad. It has not been cancelled. Hopefully, there will be a launch in next few days just before the start of the series," a BCCI official told PTI on conditions of anonymity.</p>
<p>More than 50 British nationals also lost their lives in the crash. The Air India flight 171 was travelling to London and crashed within minutes of take off.</p>
<p>The renaming of the trophy is an ode to two living legends England pacer James Anderson and Indian batting great Sachin Tendulkar. The series starting June 20 in Leeds will feature five Test matches.</p>
<p>It has also been learnt that the ECB has received a request from the BCCI to retain the Pataudi connection to the series by having an individual honour named after him.</p>
<p>As per sources, Tendulkar and ICC chairman Jay Shah want Pataudi's name to remain associated with the marquee series keeping in mind the late captain's contribution to Indian cricket.</p>

<p>If there was one player who was considered worthy of bettering Sachin Tendulkar's record of 100 international hundreds, it was Virat Kohli.</p>
<p>When Tendulkar was asked in an award ceremony after hitting his 100th century on who can break his record, he took two names: Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.</p>
<p>Within a week, both Rohit and Virat retired from the Test format.</p>
<p>Kohli, who quit the Test arena on Monday, is still 18 hundreds away from equalling the incredible milestone and now has just one format to play, may be for a maximum of two years.</p>
<p>In an age when the relevance of the 50-over format is a continuous debate, hitting 19 hundreds in ODIs is a humongous task.</p>
<p>There is a possibility of Kohli featuring in the ODI World Cup to be held in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia in 2027.</p>
<p>Before that, India is scheduled to play only 27 ODIs which includes a three-match series against Bangladesh in August-September.</p>
<p>It looks Tendulkar's record is 'here to stay'.</p>
<p>Tendulkar scored 51 centuries in 200 Tests and 49 centuries in 463 ODIs.</p>
<p>Kohli hit 30 centuries in 123 Tests, 51 in 302 ODIs and one in 125 T20 games.</p>
<p>Former captain Rohit has scored a total of 49 centuries, including 12 in Tests, 32 in ODIs and five in T20s.</p>
<p>In the list of batsmen who have scored the most centuries in international cricket, after Tendulkar and Kohli, are Australia's Ricky Ponting (71), Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara (63), South Africa's Jacques Kallis (62) and Hashim Amla (55), Sri Lanka's Mahela Jayawardene (54).</p>
<p>Kohli's contemporaries England's Joe Root (53), Australia's Steve Smith (48) and New Zealand's Kane Williamson (48) are also at the fag end of their careers and there is no chance of them even getting close to Tendulkar's record.</p>

<p>"Yes, he will be the recipient of the C K Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award for the year 2024," a Board source confirmed to PTI. His 200 Test appearances and 463 ODIs remain unmatched in the history of the game. Over his illustrious career, he accumulated 15,921 runs in Tests and a staggering 18,426 in ODIs.</p>
<p>Though he played only one T20 International, Tendulkar&rsquo;s career is defined by his remarkable achievements across formats.&nbsp;</p>
<p>In 2023, the award was presented to former India head coach Ravi Shastri and wicketkeeping great Farokh Engineer.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Regarded as the greatest batter of his era, Tendulkar was not just known for his run-scoring feats but also for being a symbol of cricketing excellence.&nbsp;</p>
<p>He made his debut at the age of 16 in 1989 against Pakistan and went on to enjoy a career that spanned more than two decades.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Apart from his batting records, Tendulkar was also a pivotal figure in India&rsquo;s 2011 World Cup-winning team, marking his sixth and final appearance in the prestigious tournament.</p>
<p>At his peak, the sight of Tendulkar walking out to bat was enough to captivate an entire nation. His wicket was the most coveted among opposition teams, many of whom admitted that Tendulkar was the only Indian batter capable of intimidating them.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Tendulkar will be the 31st recipient of the C K Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award, which was established in 1994 in honor of India&rsquo;s first captain, Col. C K Nayudu, who also made significant contributions as a cricket administrator.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Nayudu&rsquo;s extraordinary 47-year-long first-class career, which spanned from 1916 to 1963, remains a world record.</p>

<p>"An icon honoured. The MCC is pleased to announce that former Indian captain Sachin Tendulkar has accepted an Honorary Cricket Membership, acknowledging his outstanding contribution to the game," the MCC posted on 'X'.</p>
<p>The legendary Tendulkar currently holds the record of most runs at MCG with 449 from five Tests at an average of 44.90 and a strike-rate of 58.69 with a hundred and three fifties.</p>
<p>Earlier in 2012, Tendulkar was awarded the Order of Australia, one of the country's highest honours.</p>

<p>"We were busy making bats when a vehicle stopped at our gate. We were pleasantly surprised to find the Little Master and his family," Mohammad Shaheen Parray, owner of MJ Sports, told PTI over phone.</p>
<p>Parray said Tendulkar checked the quality of the bats made of Kashmir willow.&nbsp;<br><br>"He stroked a few bats and was quite pleased with the quality. Tendulkar said he had come to compare the Kashmir willow bats with those made of English willow.</p>
<p>"We requested him to lend his voice in support of the local bats," Parray said, adding the batting maestro promised to support the Kashmir willow bats.</p>

<p>The Mumbai police have registered a case against a gaming site and a Facebook page after Sachin Tendulkar raised concerns over a deepfake video that falsely showed that the cricketing legend was promoting its gaming app, an official said on Thursday.</p>
<p>An FIR has been registered under section 500 (defamation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 66 (A) (sending offensive messages through communication service) of the IT Act on a complaint filed by the former cricketer&rsquo;s personal assistant at the West Region Cyber police station on Tuesday, the official said.</p>
<p>Earlier, a deepfake video, carrying a digitally manipulated clip and voice of Tendulkar, was shared on Facebook in which it was falsely shown that the former ace batsman was promoting a gaming app.</p>
<p>The deepfake also sought to create an impression that Tendulkar and his daughter Sara had won large sums of money by playing a certain online game.</p>
<p>According to the complaint, the video was edited and posted on Facebook. It said deepfake technology was used to mimic Tendulkar&rsquo;s gesture and voice.</p>
<p>At this stage, the police did not share details about the owner of the gaming site and the Facebook page.</p>
<p>Tendulkar himself had flagged the fake video on his official X handle. He called the video a &ldquo;disturbing&rdquo; misuse of technology and stressed that it was fake.</p>
<p>&ldquo;These videos are fake. It is disturbing to see rampant misuse of technology. Request everyone to report videos, ads and apps like these in large numbers,&rdquo; Tendulkar had appealed on X.</p>
<p>Social media platforms need to be alert and responsive to complaints, he said. &ldquo;Swift action from their end is crucial to stopping the spread of misinformation and deepfakes,&rdquo; he had asserted.</p>

<p>Iconic cricketer Sachin Tendulkar on Monday dismissed as "fake" the video in which he is seen promoting a gaming application that lures users for easy money.</p>
<p>The video shows Tendulkar talking about the merits of the application, saying he did not know that money making has become so easy and that his own daughter uses the platform.</p>
<p>Tendulkar, one of the best cricketers to have graced the game of cricket, posted the video along with a message in which he expressed concern about misuse of technology.</p>
<p>"These videos are fake. It is disturbing to see rampant misuse of technology. Request everyone to report videos, ads &amp; apps like these in large numbers," Tendulkar, 50, posted on social media platform X.</p>
<p>The voice used in the video matches Tendulkar's.</p>
<p>"Social Media platforms need to be alert and responsive to complaints. Swift action from their end is crucial to stopping the spread of misinformation and deepfakes," he wrote further.</p>
<p><strong>Govt mulling 'tighter rules'</strong></p>
<p>Union minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar reacted to Tendulkar's post and said tighter rules under the Information Technology Act will be shortly notified by the government.</p>
<p>"Thank you @sachin_rt for this tweet. DeepFakes and misinformation powered by #AI are a threat to Safety&amp;Trust of Indian users and represents harm &amp; legal violation that platforms hv to prevent and take down.</p>
<p>"Recent Advisory by @GoI_MeitY requires platforms to comply wth this 100%. We will be shortly notifying tighter rules under IT Act to ensure compliance by platforms," Chandrasekhar tweeted.</p>
<p>Actors Tom Hanks and Rashmika Mandanna are among famous personalities to have fallen victim to deepfakes in recent times.</p>
<p>Deepfakes refers to use of an image or recording that has been altered and manipulated to misrepresent someone as doing or saying something that was not actually done or said.&nbsp;</p>
