SA20 Qualifier 1: Surnisers Eastern Cape beat Durban's Super Giants to enter final again

Defending champions Surnisers Eastern Cape entered their 2nd consecutive SA20 final as they beat Durban's Super Giants (DSG) in Qualifier 1 at Newlands.

Marco Jansen and Ottniel Baartman were the stars of the night as they picked 4 wickets each.

Defending champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape reached their second consecutive Betway SA20 final after securing a convincing 51-run victory over Durban's Super Giants in the rain-affected Qualifier 1 here.
The match was stopped for around an hour due to heavy rain on Tuesday but no overs were lost. The final will be played on Saturday while the eliminator and second qualifier will take place in Johannesburg.
After Dawid Malan's (63) measured half-century which helped Sunrisers put up a modest 157/8 on the board, the pace duo of Marco Jansen(4/16) and Ottniel Baartman (4/10) ripped through Durban's Super Giants' batting line-up, bowling them out for 106 in 19.3 overs.
The two shared eight wickets between them.
Jansen drew first blood, dismissing opener Tony de Zorzi cheaply in the second over. But the game-changer was Baartman, who took two wickets in a maiden fourth over. The right-arm seamer, with his 4/10 is now the leading wicket-taker in the league.
He first dismissed Matthew Breetzke, who edged the ball straight to wicketkeeper Tristan Stubbs.
A brilliant piece of athleticism from Aiden Markram resulted in Baartman's second scalp. The skipper took a sensational one-handed stunner at mid-on to help dismiss Jon Jon Smuts.
The Super Giants had their hopes pinned on the dangerous Quinton de Kock but he too was sent back courtesy of Liam Dawson's caught and bowled effort in the 11th over. The left-arm spinner also had DSG's top-scorer Wiaan Mulder (38) caught in the deep.
Baartman then had the big-hitting Heinrich Klaasen (23 off 15 balls) caught behind just when the Proteas superstar was starting to warm up.
Klaasen's dismissal signalled the end of DSG&rsquo;s challenge on the night with Jansen running through the tail to ensure a smooth passage to the final for the Sunrisers.

CSA (Cricket South Africa) and his team, Paarl Royals, could share more details if there are any.'
Officials of SA20 and Paarl Royals also confirmed the incident. However, the Royals team management did not respond to queries from Cricbuzz.

Playing for MI Cape Town, Archer bagged the wickets of Wihan Lubbe, David Miller &amp; Ferisco Adams to restrict Paarl Royals to a below-par 142. Dewald Brevis' 70* in response ensured his side cruised to an 8-wicket victory with 27 balls to spare.
Archer, who hadn't played a competitive match since July 2021 due to elbow and back injuries, also clocked speeds in excess of 145 kph during his spell.

Cricket South Africa announced the prize money for the inaugural edition of their T20 league, SA20.
The SA20 will have a total prize purse of 70 million rands i.e. approx Rs 33.5 crore. Prize money will be awarded to the teams from this purse depending upon the place they finish after the tournament.
Interestingly, this is the biggest purse in the history of South African franchise cricket.&nbsp;

The Pakistan Cricket Board has decided to allow its contracted players to participate in the upcoming Cricket South Africa's SA20 league. This comes after Pakistan and West Indies boards decided to postpone the January 2023 T20 series to early 2024.&nbsp; The Pakistan board initially was against its players participating in the league citing domestic and international commitments. Further, PCB gave the nod after the South African cricket board announced that the teams can now sign an extra wildcard player after the player's auction was completed last week. No Pakistani player was able to take part in the auction.
Cricket South Africa's SA20 league is in its inaugural season which is scheduled to be held from 10th January 2023 to February 2023. 6 teams are set to participate in the league.
