A couple died after the roof of their room collapsed and fell on them in Jharkhand's Hazaribag district, an official said on Monday.
The incident happened when the couple was sleeping inside the room at Rasoidhamna village on Sunday night.
The deceased were identified as Hadis Ansari (52) and his wife Zamira Khatun (48).
Barhi Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Johan Tudu said they were sleeping in their room when the roof of their room collapsed on them and they died on the spot.
Other members of the house remained unaffected as they were sleeping in separate rooms, he said.
The SDO said the bodies were sent for postmortem at the Barhi Sub Division Hospital.
He said that the relief and grants would be provided to the family as per the government rule.
Ansari and Khatun were parents of five children including three daughters and two sons. The elder daughter is married.
"Ansari was the sole bread earner of the family. Two girls are below 18 years of age. So, the administration has decided to admit them in Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya in Hazaribag," Tudu said.
After seeing the condition of the family, the SDO provided 50 kg of ration and Rs 10,000 in cash for immediate relief.
He said that the family would receive Rs 4 lakh as compensation for each death under the disaster management department. "The document regarding this is being prepared and it will be soon submitted to the deputy commissioner," he added. The SDO added, "We have ordered a survey of old and dilapidated houses in the area in a bid to avoid such incidents."

While the cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained, some are blaming the metro railway work, which is coming up less than 50 feet away from the bar.

Three workers were killed in Chennai on March 28, after a portion of a roof of a famous pub collapsed on them. The incident happened at Sekhmet Bar on Chamiers road in the upmarket locality of Alwarpet here. According to reports, the roof of the first floor fell on them.
Among the three deceased workers, two were reportedly from Manipur and one was a transgender, PTI reported citing police.
They have been identified as Cyclone Raj, 45, of Dindigul, two migrant workers were identified as Max and Lolly, natives of Manipur.
On Thursday, the "building's first floor concrete ceiling collapsed abruptly," a City Police release said.
"In this regard, a case would be registered and investigated accordingly," the release said.
On information, the police reached the spot, retrieved the bodies and sent them to Government Royapettah Hospital.
Senior Police officers visited the spot. TN Fire &amp; Rescue Services and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) were engaged in clearing the debris.
The victims were employees of the pub, a senior official had said earlier.

In a near rerun of the Khanjawala hit-and-drag incident, a motorist allegedly rammed his car into a scooter and dragged the rider on its roof for about 350 metres in the Keshav Puram area of the national capital on Friday.
According to the FIR registered at the Keshav Puram police station, such was the impact of the collision that the scooter rider was thrown off the pilot seat of his two-wheeler and landed on the vehicle's roof, while the pillion rider died on the spot.
The biker was then allegedly dragged for 350 metres, the police said, adding the five persons were arrested in connection with the incident. The biker was rushed to a nearby hospital, the police informed further.
