A young girl from Shimla allegedly committed suicide over her Class 12 board exam results. Authorities are investigating.

A girl allegedly committed suicide by jumping off a bridge near Shimla in Himachal Pradesh after failing in the class 12 board exams, police said here Tuesday.
According to the police, the girl, who lived with her parents in a rented room in Shimla, was distressed after she failed in the Class 12 board exams for the second time.
The results of the Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education were declared on Saturday.
A day after the results were declared, the girl went to Badagaon and jumped off the bridge located on Mehli-Shoghi bypass road in Shimla. Some locals informed the police after noticing the girl jumping off the bridge, they said.
The police team then took out the body from the nallah with the help of the locals. The body was then taken to Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), Shimla and later handed over to the family after post-mortem.
A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.

The Maharashtra HSC results saw a 91.88% pass rate, with girls excelling at 94.58% over boys' 89.51%. Konkan led at 96.74%. Science scored highest among streams.

The Maharashtra State Board for Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) on Monday declared the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC), or Class 12 results, with 91.88 per cent of students passing the examination.
According to board chairperson Sharad Gosavi, girls outperformed boys again, with a pass percentage of 94.58 compared to 89.51 among boys.
The Konkan division was on top with a pass percentage of 96.74, followed by Kolhapur 93.64, Mumbai 92.93, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar 92.24, Amravati 91.43, Pune 91.32, Nashik 91.31, Nagpur 90.52, and Latur 89.46.
A total of 14,27,085 students had registered for the examination held in March, of which 14,17,969 appeared and 13,02,873 passed, he said.
The Science stream recorded the highest pass percentage at 97.35, while 92.68 per cent of students from commerce, 83.26 per cent of vocational and 80.52 per cent from the Arts stream passed the examination, Gosavi said.
&ldquo;It needs to be examined why the result of the Latur division is down,&rdquo; said Latur division chairman Sudhakar Telang.
In the 1990s and early 2000s, students from the Latur region began dominating merit lists in board and entrance exams. The trend, more popular as &lsquo;Latur pattern&rsquo;, became synonymous with academic excellence.
This year, the HSC results have been declared one month earlier, and it will be easier for students to plan for their future education, said Telang.

The final answer keys will be notified by Friday, they added.
"The final answer keys of JEE (Main), 2025, Edition-II will be available for download on the JEE (Main) website on April 18. The results of JEE (Main), 2025, will be declared latest by April 19," a senior National Testing Agency (NTA) official said.
The NTA has received several complaints from candidates about errors in provisional answer keys.
The agency had earlier this week asked students to wait for the final answer keys and not arrive at any conclusions.
The exam was conducted on April 2, 3, 4, 7 and 8.

"The (four) state results strongly vindicate BJP's pro-poor and pro-active governance. Earlier, people could not reach governments for basic amenities such as electricity, gas and water. Now we are delivering the poor their rights," the prime minister said, asserting that he will not rest until the poor get their due.
Lauding BJP workers for ensuring an early Holi by making the party victorious in four states, Modi said its voteshare has increased in Manipur, Uttar Pradesh and Goa even though it was in power in the states.
All exit polls were proven incorrect in Goa, and the people of Goa have given the BJP the chance to serve them for the third consecutive time, he said.
In Uttar Pradesh, people have reelected a chief minister for the first time after he had served a full term and also for the first time in 37 years, brought the same party to power again, he said.
Modi also hit out at those who believe that caste rules politics in Uttar Pradesh and asserted that the BJP's straight four wins since 2014, two Lok Sabha and assembly polls each, has highlighted that people have voted for development and good governance.
Those who refer to castes while analysing Uttar Pradesh politics insult the state and its people, he said, asserting that caste identity should be used to bring the country together and not to break it.
People's vote for stability in the polls shows that democracy flows through their veins, he said. "It is a day of zest and festivities and this enthusiasm is for India's democracy," Modi told jubilant party workers as he was joined by top party leaders at the dais.
He said Uttar Pradesh has given many prime ministers but for the first time it has re-elected a chief minister after he had served a full term. The prime minister said that governance delivery has been made better and transparent in the last few years, while delivering the poor their rights.
In Goa, he said, the BJP has emerged as the single largest party and even after being in power for 10 years, the number of BJP seats in the state has increased. "BJP has created a new history in Uttarakhand too," he said, while referring to the BJP achieving the maiden feat of retaining power in the hilly state.
He also praised young voters and women voters as well, saying they have played a crucial role in these elections. "They have blessed us - we've won splendidly in areas where women voters have dominated. Our Nari Shakti have been our partners in this victory," Modi said.

People's vote for stability in the polls shows that democracy flows through their veins, he said. "It is a day of zest and festivities and this enthusiasm is for India's democracy," Modi told jubilant party workers as he was joined by top party leaders at the dais.
He said Uttar Pradesh has given many prime ministers but for the first time it has re-elected a chief minister after he had served a full term. The prime minister said that governance delivery has been made better and transparent in the last few years, while delivering the poor their rights.
In Goa, he said, the BJP has emerged as the single largest party and even after being in power for 10 years, the number of BJP seats in the state has increased. "BJP has created a new history in Uttarakhand too," he said, while referring to the BJP achieving the maiden feat of retaining power in the hilly state.
He also praised young voters and women voters as well, saying they have played a crucial role in these elections.&nbsp;"They have blessed us - we've won splendidly in areas where women voters have dominated. Our Nari Shakti have been our partners in this victory," Modi said. (PTI)

The National Testing Agency (NTA) announced the results of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) main February 2021 exam on its official website.
A total of 44 candidates have scored 100 percentile in the&nbsp;JEE-Main this year while 18 candidates have shared the top rank, the Ministry of Education (MoE) said.
The ranks of the candidates have been released taking into consideration the best of the four NTA scores in accordance with the policy already made.
Starting this year, JEE-Main was conducted four times a year to offer flexibility to students and a chance to improve their scores.
JEE Main result 2021 is available on the&nbsp;NTA portal. To check the results, students have to log in using their roll number and download the result and rank card from jeemain.nta.nic.in.

The first rank holders included Gaurab Das (Karnataka), Vaibhav Vishal (Bihar), Duggineni Venkata Paneesh (Andhra Pradesh), Siddhant Mukherjee, Anshul Verma and Mridul Agarwal (Rajasthan), Ruchir Bansal and Kavya Chopra (Delhi), Amaiya Singhal and Pal Agarwal (Uttar Pradesh),&nbsp;Komma Sharanya and Joysula Venkata Aditya (Telangana), Pasala Veera Siva, Karnam Lokesh and Kanchanapalli Rahul Naidu, (Andhra Pradesh), Pulkit Goyal (Punjab) and Guramrit Singh (Chandigarh).
The ranks of the candidates have been released taking into consideration the best of the four NTA scores in accordance with the policy already made.
Starting this year, JEE-Main was conducted four times a year to offer flexibility to students and a chance to improve their scores.
The first phase was held in February and the second in March.
The next phases were scheduled for April and May, however, they were postponed due to the second wave of Covid.
The third edition was held from July 20-25 while the fourth edition was conducted from August 26 to September 2.
