Shares of Reliance Industries surged to a new-lifetime high on Thursday after announcing a binding agreement to form a joint venture with Viacom 18 and Disney. RIL surged more than 3.12% to hit a new 52-week high of Rs 2,999.85 on Thursday with market capitalisation at about Rs 20.3 lakh crore.&nbsp;
<h3>Reliance-Disney deal&nbsp;</h3>
As per the binding definitive agreements integrating the operations of Viacom18 and Star India, Reliance Industries will invest Rs 11,500 crore.
Under the terms of the agreement, the media division of Viacom18 will be amalgamated into Star India Pvt Ltd through a court-approved scheme of arrangement. Reliance and its affiliates will hold 63.16% in the combined entity while Disney will hold the remaining 36.84%, the companies said in a statement.

The company further said that Nita Ambani will serve as the Chairperson of the joint venture, with Uday Shankar appointed as Vice Chairperson. The transaction values the JV at Rs 70,352 crore ($8.5 billion) on a post-money basis, excluding synergies.
The Mukesh Ambani-promoted company will control the joint venture via a 16.34% direct stake and 46.82% held through Viacom 18
As per JM Financials and said RIL has industry leading capabilities across businesses to drive robust 14%-15% EPS CAGR over the next 3-5 years.&nbsp;
"Given that RIL&rsquo;s effective stake in Viacom18 is 71%, RIL&rsquo;s effective stake in the JV could be 49.6%. Hence, net value from the JV for RIL could be Rs 23,400 crore or Rs 35% share. We reiterate 'buy' on RIL with an unchanged target price of Rs 3,050 as we believe net debt concerns are behind us," JM Financial.
Motilal Oswal has also said that RIL would get a larger pie in the media and entertainment business. While noting the JV to have exclusive rights to distribute Disney films and productions in India the brokerage suggested a target price of Rs 3,210 on the stock. Global brokerage firm Jefferies too had maintained a 'buy' rating on RIL with a target price of Rs 3,140

The flagship company's stock reached a record high touching 2,940 rupees per share on Tuesday. This follows a 14% rally in the stock since the beginning of 2024 and gained 40% over the last one year.
As per CNBC-TV18, out of the 35 analysts that track Reliance Industries, 28 or 80% of them have a "buy" recommendation, five have a "hold" call on the stock, while two have a "sell" recommendation. Following closely behind Reliance Industries is TCS, with a market cap of 15.07 lakh crore rupees, and HDFC Bank with a 10.56 lakh crore market cap.&nbsp;
Thanks to the company's performance in the stock market, Ambani's personal wealth has significantly increased this year. Last month, he rejoined the exclusive club of centibillionaires, with his net worth reaching approximately $109 billion, according to Bloomberg's Billionaire Index.

Reliance Industries maintains its position as the most valuable company in India, as per the 2023 Hurun Global 500 released on Wednesday. However, on the global stage, no Indian company secured a spot within the top 40. Reliance Industries ranked 44th with a total valuation of 198 billion dollars, dropping ten places as its net worth decreased by 2% in the past year. Following closely were Tata Consultancy Services at 60th position and HDFC Bank at 68th. TCS saw a 14% increase in net worth to 158 billion dollars, improving its rank by five spots in 2023. Globally, the report notes a historic moment as five companies surpassed the 1 trillion dollars valuation mark, including Apple, Microsoft, Alphabet, Amazon, and Nvidia. Titan Company and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries secured spots in the top 500 rankings, with Titan expanding through the opening of 90 new stores, and Sun Pharma making strategic acquisitions in Israel. However, 48 companies, including Binance and Activision Blizzard, dropped off the list due to decreased valuations.
Notably, three Adani group companies - Adani Transmission, Adani Green Energy, and Adani Total Gas - saw a decline in rankings for India. The country slipped one rank to the sixth position overall, with a total of 18 companies on the list.

Billionaire Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Industries Ltd is the most valuable private company in the country, as per Hurun India's 2022 Burgundy Private Hurun India 500 list.
The list, which was released on Tuesday, stated that with a value of Rs 16.4 lakh crore, Reliance is India's most valuable company, followed by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) with Rs 11.8 lakh crore and HDFC Bank with Rs 9.4 lakh crore.
Reliance is also the highest taxpayer with a payout of Rs 16,297 crore and the most profitable company with a bottomline of Rs 67,845 crore in 2022-23.
The list ranked vaccine maker Serum Institute of India as the most valuable unlisted company in the country with Rs 1.92 lakh crore in value. It overtook National Stock Exchange which was pushed to the No. 2 spot with Rs 1.65 lakh crore in value. Byju's with Rs 69,100 crore value came in at No.3.
The list by Burgundy Private, Axis Bank's Private Banking Business and Hurun India tracks changes in the value of the top 500 Indian companies during the six-month period (from October 30, 2022, to April 30, 2023), it said in a statement.
It is a list of the 500 most valuable non-state-owned companies in India, ranked according to their value, defined as market capitalization for listed companies, and valuations for non-listed companies.
"The total value of the top 500 companies in India declined marginally by 6.4 per cent to Rs 212 lakh crore from Rs 227 lakh crore as of October 30, 2022," it said adding the companies on the list underperformed compared to SENSEX and other global indices.
The total value of the top 10 companies remains unchanged at Rs 71.5 lakh crore, equivalent to 37 per cent of India's GDP and 31 per cent of the total value of the 2022 Burgundy Private Hurun India 500.
By absolute value, the biggest gainers were HDFC Bank, ITC and Housing Development Finance Corporation.
In comparison, eight companies in the Adani Group decreased their value by 52 per cent or Rs 10,25,955 crore after they were hit by a scathing Hindenburg report.
The report said the value of Reliance decreased by 5.1 per cent, or Rs 87,731 crore in the last six months. While the total value of TCS increased marginally by 0.7 per cent and HDFC Bank increased by 12.9 per cent.

Reliance Industries is in the process of demerging its financial services business and has called for a shareholder and creditors meet scheduled to be held on 2nd May 2023.
The meeting is being called as per an order by the Mumbai Bench of the National Company Law Tribunal. After the demerger, the name of the Reliance Strategic Investments (RSIL) shall be changed to Jio Financial Services Limited.&nbsp;
Reliance Industries has approved the scheme of arrangement between RIL and RSIL last October. Mukesh Ambani announced the demerger of its financial services business into a separate entity and subsequent listing it on the stock exchanges last year. The demerger will be done through a share-swap arrangement. Hence, RIL shareholders will get one share of Jio financial services for every share they hold in RIL.&nbsp;
RIL's investment in Reliance Industrial Investments and Holdings (RIIHL), which is a part of the financial services holdings will be transferred to Jio Financial services. Currently, RIIHL is the ultimate beneficiary of 6.1% RIL shares through its interest in Petroleum Trust and Reliance Services and Holdings.
As per Economic Times, Jio Financial Services plans to launch a consumer and merchant lending business to complement and supplement the traditional credit bureau-based underwriting
