According to The Business Today report, the actor shared how she lost her baby five months into her second pregnancy during the Covid-19 pandemic.
She also said that sharing her story before the release or during promotions for &lsquo;Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway&rsquo; would have been seen as a promotional tactic.
&lsquo;Maybe this is the first time I am making this revelation because in today&rsquo;s world every aspect of your life is discussed publicly, and becomes an agenda for talking about your film to get more eyeballs. Obviously, I didn&rsquo;t speak about this when I was promoting the film because it would have come across as me trying to speak about a personal experience that would propel the film&hellip; so, it was around the year when Covid-19 struck. It was 2020. I got pregnant with my second baby at the end of 2020 and I unfortunately lost my baby five months into my pregnancy,&rsquo; she said.
Rani added that Nikhil Advani, one of the producers of &lsquo;Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway&rsquo;, called her in 2020 within 10 days of her miscarriage.
She said, &lsquo;After I lost my baby, Nikhil (Advani) would have called me probably like 10 days later. He told me about the story and I kind of immediately&hellip; not that I had to have the loss of a child to feel the emotion but sometimes there is a film in the right time of what you are going through personally to be able for you to connect with it instantly. When I heard the story, I was in disbelief. I never thought in a country like Norway an Indian family would have had to go through&rsquo;.
Rani married producer-director Aditya Chopra in 2014 and they welcomed their daughter Adira a year later.

Speaking with Hindustan Times, she said, &lsquo;Everybody is entitled to have their own opinion. This film was not really made to offend anybody. It is a true story, and the intention of the film was very different from what was being projected in the opinion that was given. It was about a mother&rsquo;s journey. The film clearly shows how it&rsquo;s never the main people who are doing it, but people who are taking advantage of a system. But everybody is touchy about their own country and will try to defend.&rsquo;
She added, &lsquo;It can&rsquo;t be a fictional story because my government helped getting the children united with the mother. So, by one person saying something, it&rsquo;s not really going to affect the larger picture of the film that we wanted to make and the story that we wanted to put out.&rsquo;

Norwegian Ambassador to India Hans Jacob Frydenlund believes that film &lsquo;Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway&rsquo; has factual inaccuracies and called it a 'fictional representation' of the real life case in which the children of NRI parents were placed in the care of Norway's child welfare services.&nbsp;
Hans said that film points to cultural differences as the primary factor in the case and that is &lsquo;completely false.&rsquo; In his article for The Indian Express, he categorically denied that feeding with hands and sleeping in the same bed as parents would be the reason for placing children in alternative care in Norway.
He goes on to write, 'Yes, we have different cultural practices. Yes, we might have different parenting traditions in Norway. But our human instincts are not different. A mother&rsquo;s love in Norway is no different from a mother&rsquo;s love in India.'&nbsp;
&lsquo;Given Rani Mukerji's acting prowess it is difficult to remain unmoved by it, and movie-goers might come out thinking of Norway as an uncaring country. The first trailer of Rani Mukerji&rsquo;s upcoming drama &lsquo;Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway&rsquo; has been shared by Zee Studios. The film narrates the story of a Bengali woman, who resides in Norway with her husband and two children and shows how she fights a nation after her children are snatched away from her by child protective services.
The trailer begins by showing a perfect picture of Mrs Chatterjee's life in Norway with her family. However, one fateful day, her kids Shom and Shuchi are snatched away by two women. She later learns that the kids have been taken away from her by the government as they feel the Chatterjees have been unable to adequately care for the kids.
Mrs Chatterjee refuses to give up. She moves courts in Norway and in India to fight for her rights and her children.
