The Railway Board has recommended a CBI probe into the Balasore train accident that has so far claimed 275 lives.
&ldquo;We have recommended a CBI probe into the triple train accident that claimed 275 lives and left over 1,000 injured,&rdquo; Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw told reporters in Bhubaneswar on Sunday evening.
The Centre along with the support of the state government are giving all support to the injured patients who are admitted to various hospitals in Balasore, Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.
&ldquo;Patients are being given all facilities in hospitals. There are teams of doctors who are taking care of patients round-the-clock,&rdquo; Vaishnaw said.
He said the government was trying to get in touch with the families of the deceased.
&ldquo;We are trying to get in touch with families of the dead,&rdquo; the Minister added.
The Odisha government on Sunday revised the triple train accident&rsquo;s death toll to 275 from 288, and put the number of injuries at 1,175.
Chief Secretary P K Jena said some bodies were counted twice. "After detailed verification and a report by Balasore District Collector, the final toll has been fixed at 275," he said.
Three trains&mdash; Shalimar-Chennai Coromandel Express, Bengaluru-Howrah super fast and a goods train &mdash; were involved in the pile-up on Friday, now being described as one of India&rsquo;s worst train accidents.
The Coromandel Express rammed into a stationary goods train and many of its carriages overturned including some onto another train - the Bengaluru-Howrah superfast express which was also passing by at the same time on Friday.

Delhi youths filming video at railway tracks hit by speeding train, die

"On inquiry, it was found that the deceased used to shoot short films on mobile and came to railway tracks to make live videos.

Two youths were run over by a train while filming on a mobile phone at railway tracks near Kanti Nagar flyover in the national capital, Delhi Police said. The deceased youngsters have been identified as Vansh Sharma, 23, a 3rd year BTech student, and Monu, 20, a salesman. Both of them hailed from Kanti Nagar Extension, Delhi.
According to the police, the incident took place on February 22 and the police received the information at around 4.35 pm at the Shahdara police station, Old Delhi Railway station.
Following the information, a police team reached the spot and recovered the bodies and sent them for postmortem examination. The police said that the bodies were shifted to GTB Hospital mortuary and preserved in GTB Hospital mortuary for post-mortem. Their mobiles were also found on the track.

A railway protection policeman has earned praise from the social media users after a video showing him saving a man at the Patiala railway station surfaced on Wednesday. The video shows a ticket-less traveller, who was probably trying to board a running train, losing his balance.While the passenger was being dragged as he tries the regain his balance, the railway police head constable runs after him and saves him in the nick of time. 
Multiple reports said that the rescued person who was trying to board the train to Nanded was fined Rs 1000 for trying to travel ticket-less.

The data pertains to a period when 45% of the passenger trains in the country were not being operated due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The report showed that Maharashtra ranks first and Uttar Pradesh second, both in terms of the number of accidents as well as deaths.
Uttar Pradesh topped the list ranking the number of train collisions at railway crossings, while Bihar and Madhya Pradesh came second and third in this list, respectively.
However, the report, issued by the central government, also showed that railway accidents reduced significantly in 2020, compared to that of the previous year. According to the NCRB Annual Report 2020, there were 27,987 train accidents in 2019, which declined to 13,018 in 2020.&nbsp;
