As campaigning for fifth phase enters its last leg, all eyes are Amethi and Rae Bareli where Priyanka Gandhi is managing the Congress' campaign. Vikram Chandra caught up with the Congress leader ahead of voting in her family's pocket borough on May 20.

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi said her party follows the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi who uttered 'Hey Ram' before dying and Prime Minister Narendra Modi was wrong in accusing it of being anti-religion.
Speaking exclusively to editorji's Vikram Chandra on the campaign trail in Rae Bareli, Gandhi alleged the saffron party claims to be a 'champion of Hindu religion', but it is in fact the Congress which is following the path of 'dharma' by seeking votes on the basis of work done.
She criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for polarising the ongoing Lok Sabha election stating that his rhetoric has disillusioned the voters.&nbsp;

Ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha election, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's supporters have put up posters in Uttar Pradesh's Rae Bareli, demanding that she contest from the Congress stronghold.&nbsp;
"Congress ke vikas karyo ko aagey badhaiye. Rae Bareli Pukarti, Priyanka Gandhi Ji aaiye (Take Congress's development work forward, Rae Bareli is calling, Priyanka Gandhi, please come)," the poster read.&nbsp;
Rae Bareli is a traditional Congress bastion, represented since 2004 by Priyanka's mother and former Congress President Sonia Gandhi. She opted out of the general elections this year citing health reasons.
Sonia Gandhi was elected unupposed to the Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan in February.
Since Sonia's decision to step aside, speculation has been rife that her daughter Priyanka would contest from Rae Bareli instead.
The prestige seat had been earlier represented by former Prime Minister, late Indira Gandhi. From this seat, Indira Gandhi also lost to Raj Narain in the 1977 general election - the only sitting Prime Minister to lose a Lok Sabha contest.
Neither the Congress nor the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced their candidates for the Lok Sabha seat.&nbsp;

After storming the Gandhi bastion of Amethi in 2019 with Smriti Irani handing down a defeat to Rahul Gandhi in the Lok Sabha polls, BJP has it eyes set on the last Gandhi stronghold of Rae Bareily.
Sonia Gandhi faced a &ldquo;tough fight&rdquo; last time against MLC Dinesh Pratap Singh, who had left her party to join the BJP.
Sonia Gandhi had retained the seat in 2019 defeating Dinesh Pratap Singh by 1.6 lakh votes, the lowest victory margin in 15 years.
In 2014, she had won by a margin of 3.5 lakh votes, in 2009 by 3.7 lakh and in 2004 by 2.4 lakh. In the 2006 by-election, her victory margin was 4.1 lakh votes.
This Assembly election, the BJP is going whole hog in the constituency that has been represented by Sonia Gandhi since 2004.
Rae Bareily has six Assembly seats: Unchahar, Harchandpur, Sareni, Rae Bareily (Sadar), Bachhrawan and Salon.
In 2017, the Congress retained just 2 of the 6 seats - Rae Bareli (Sadar) and Harchandpur. They were won by Aditi Singh and Rakesh Singh for the party.
But both the winners from the last time have now switched sides to the BJP and have been fielded against the Congress from the same seats.
BJP has already decimated Congress in the family bastion of Amethi. In 2017 the saffron party swept 4 out of 5 Assembly seats in Rahul Gandhi's Lok Sabha seat, which he also lost in 2019.

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday demanded that the Yogi Adityanath government should stop "ignoring" the incidents of alleged persecution and killing of Dalits in Uttar Pradesh. In her tweet in hindi she has listed places like Mahoba, Agra, Gorakhpur, Rae Bareli, Hardoi where incidents of persecution and killing of Dalits are happening. She has demanded the UP government take action against these incidents. Congress&rsquo; allegation that the law and order situation is deteriorating in Uttar Pradesh has been denied by the state BJP government.
