Karnataka government recently paid tribute to late actor Puneeth Rajkumar by renaming the Ring Road in Bengaluru as Dr. Puneeth Rajkumar Road. Puneeth had died in October 2021 due to a heart attack. This move is receiving a lot of praise from his fans and celebrities. Now, Puneeth&rsquo;s wife Ashwini has also thanked the government and the CM for the honour.
Sharing a post on Instagram, Ashwini wrote, &lsquo;Our heartfelt gratitude for the government of Karnataka, especially Sri, Basavarak S Bommai, honorable chief minister of Karnataka, for dedicating the 12 Kms Ring Road from Nayandahalli Junction to Vega City Mall Junction as &lsquo;Dr. Puneeth Rajkumar Road&rsquo; in honour of Appu.&rsquo;
She added, &lsquo;I am enormously indebted to all in the State government, the Karnataka Film Chamber, the film fraternity, and the innumerable fans for keeping Appu alive among us in myriad ways.&rsquo;
Shiva Rajkumar, Puneeth&rsquo;s brother, recently broke down at the pre-release event of his upcoming film &lsquo;Shiva Vedha&rsquo; when a video of the late actor was played. He was then consoled by Telugu star Balakrishna, who was present at the event as the chief guest.
Puneeth Rajkumar was last seen in &lsquo;James&rsquo;, &lsquo;Lucky Man&rsquo;, and &lsquo;Gandhada Gudi&rsquo;, which released posthumously.

In a promotional video, the 'Pink' actor remembered Puneeth Rajkumar and said, 'It&rsquo;s very difficult to talk about Appu in the past tense.'
In the video, the actor said, 'Puneeth &mdash; we all lovingly called Appu. It&rsquo;s very difficult to talk about Appu in the past tense. I met him first when he was a little kid. The one thing that was so attractive about him was he was always smiling. Every time, and everywhere you met, he had the most endearing smile on his face. That&rsquo;s what I believe kept him so close to all of us and his legendary fan following.'

Puneeth Rajkumar&rsquo;s wife Ashwini took to Twitter on November 6 to announce that the ticket prices for her late husband-actor&rsquo;s movie &lsquo;Gandhada Gudi&rsquo; will be reduced. The prices have been slashed from Monday till Thursday across Karnataka for all shows so that children can watch the movie. Fans have called this move a great initiative that can help in taking forward Puneeth&rsquo;s legacy.
&lsquo;Gandhada Gudi&rsquo; was Puneeth Rajkumar&rsquo;s last film. The actor&rsquo;s wife told in a statement that it was Puneeth&rsquo;s wish that more and more children should watch the movie.The film is directed by Amoghavarsha JS and is a documentary that shows the wildlife of Karnataka. The film released in the last week of October and was liked by the audience.
The statement by Ashwini also mentioned that the ticket price for the movie on single screens across Karnataka has been cut down to Rs. 56 and Rs. 112 for multiplexes.

Now, Rishab has revealed that the film was initially offered to late actor Puneeth Rajkumar but he couldn&rsquo;t come on board due to his busy schedule and other work commitments.
During his conversation with Masth Cinema YouTube channel, the actor-director said, &lsquo;It all happened in a blink of an eye. Soon after I narrated the story to him, he got very excited about the project. He wanted to explore different stories. But, his other projects continued to keep him away from Kantara. One day, he called me and asked me to go ahead with the film without him. He told me that if I waited for him, I may not be able to do the film that year.&rsquo;
Rishab further revealed that he met the late actor at the pre-release event of &lsquo;Bajarangi 2&rsquo; where he enquired about the project (Kantara).
&lsquo;He enquired me about the project and asked me not to compromise on my vision for the film. I showed him a few still pictures from the shoot. He was very happy for me. And he told me he was eager to watch the film,&rsquo; he said.
