Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor on Friday alleged that the new cabinet of the Nitish Kumar government was full of corrupt and criminal leaders.
Speaking to reporters after a day-long silent fast at Gandhi Ashram in West Champaran, Kishor also said his party will launch the 'Bihar Navnirman Sankalp Yatra' on January 15, during which Jan Suraaj Party workers will visit all houses in the state.
"The new cabinet of Nitish Kumar, which took oath on Thursday, is full of corrupts and criminals. I must say that this council of ministers is a slap on the face of the people of Bihar. It's like rubbing salt on the wound as several corrupt leaders were inducted," he alleged.
Kishor claimed the leaders inducted into the cabinet indicate that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and CM Kumar are least concerned about Bihar.

Jan Suraaj Party leader Prashant Kishor on Tuesday claimed that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's JD(U) would have been limited to just 25 seats had his government not given Rs 10,000 to over 60,000 beneficiaries in each constituency just before the assembly elections and promised Rs 2 lakh to 1.5 crore women across the state under a self-employment scheme.
He accused the NDA government of promising Rs 40,000 crore of people's money, and rolling out a large chunk of it just ahead of the elections.
Addressing a press conference in Patna, Kishor said that his Jan Suraaj Party made an honest effort to make people understand the issues facing them but failed to make a mark in the polls, and that he took full responsibility for the debacle.
"None of our candidates is going to the assembly. People's mandate for us is to go among the people and struggle," he said.
Citing an English phrase, he said, "You are not defeated until you quit."
"We may have made mistakes, but have not committed the crime of doing divisive politics and buying the votes of the innocent people," he added.
Kishor also alleged that 'vote chori' (theft of votes) is a pan-India issue, and urged national opposition parties to hold deliberations on the matter and move the Supreme Court, if needed.
"We received a setback, but we will rectify the mistakes, build ourselves and come back stronger... there is no going back for us," he asserted.
On the question whether he failed to understand Bihar, he said, "Yes, I failed to understand Bihar, unlike Nitish Kumar, BJP leader Samrat Choudhary and others who divided people on caste and religious lines and bought votes of people using money."
"To not get votes is not a crime... at least I have not indulged in corruption or divisive politics," he said.
Kishor said he would "definitely quit" politics if the NDA government fulfils its poll promise and gives Rs 2 lakh each to Rs 1.5 crore women under self-employment initiatives.
The Jan Suraaj leader was alluding to his pre-poll claim of quitting politics if JD(U) got more than 25 seats.
"Between Nitish Kumar and his victory, there is only one thing -- buying of 60,000 votes in each assembly constituency at Rs 10,000. It should be made clear whether it was a vote purchase or part of a self-employment programme," he said.
"People have given the mandate to NDA, now it's on the shoulders of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Nitish Kumar to work on fulfilling their poll promises," he said.
"Self-employment is very important; they must give the Rs 2 lakh they promised. This will prove that the sum of 10,000 given to women was a welfare initiative. People who don't get the money in six months' time can come to Jan Suraaj, we will fight to ensure they get the amount," he said.
He also urged Modi and Kumar to keep the corrupt and criminals out of the government when it is formed.
Notably, before the polls, Kishor had raised the issue of charges of crime and corruption against several NDA leaders, including Samrat Chaudhary, Ashok Chaudhary, and Mangal Pandey.
Kishor said that as repentance on not being able to make people understand on what issues they should vote, he would hold a fast for a day at Bhitiharwa in West Champaran district on November 20, when the new NDA government is likely to take oath.
The NDA stormed to power in Bihar, winning 202 seats in the 243-member assembly, with BJP bagging 89, JD(U) 85, LJP(RV) 19, HAM five and RLM four. Jan Suraaj Party failed to open its account in its maiden polls.
Under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rozgar Yojana, the Bihar government gave the first instalment of Rs 10,000 to beneficiaries and promised credit Rs 2 lakh more over subsequent instalments.

Jan Suraaj Party spokesperson Pavan K Varma on Friday said the party would undertake a "serious review" of its performance in the Bihar Assembly elections after early trends showed Prashant Kishor&rsquo;s outfit making little impact despite a grassroots campaign.&nbsp;
His remarks came as the ruling NDA seemed to be sweeping the assembly polls.
According to the latest trends on the Election Commission's website, the NDA was ahead in 187 assembly seats, while the opposition INDIA bloc was way behind with leads in just 49 seats, signalling a sharp tilt in favour of the BJP-led coalition.
Within the NDA, the JD(U) was leading in 85 seats, the BJP in 76, with allies LJP (RV) (22) and HAM(S) (5) adding further heft to the front. The Mahagathbandhan&rsquo;s leads were anchored by the RJD&rsquo;s 35 seats, followed by the Congress (6), CPI(ML)-Liberation (7), VIP (I) and CPI(M) &ndash; one each. The Bahujan Samaj Party (1), AIMIM (2), and Rashtriya Lok Morcha (1) also figured in the early count.
EC trends showed Kishor&rsquo;s party struggling to register leads anywhere, marking a stark contrast to the momentum his yatra and district-level mobilisation had generated over the past two years.
Speaking to PTI Video, Varma said Jan Suraaj had gone into the polls with &ldquo;sincerity and conviction&rdquo; but admitted that it had failed to win voters&rsquo; confidence. "We worked with full sincerity, with the belief that Bihar needs fundamental change. There was no lack of effort. But if we have not won the people&rsquo;s trust, we will analyse why and reflect on it," he said.
Varma stressed that while the party had faltered at the ballot box, it had succeeded in compelling mainstream parties to acknowledge pressing governance concerns. "One thing gives us satisfaction that the Jan Suraaj agenda of employment, migration, education, and corruption-free Bihar will now be part of every party&rsquo;s agenda," he said.
On the NDA&rsquo;s surge, Varma said election outcomes often defy predictions. "I have seen many elections where results turn out differently from what was anticipated. There is no doubt Nitish ji continues to enjoy acceptance and respect in Bihar. I have worked closely with him, and we are happy that he has received the people&rsquo;s mandate. We wish him well and hope he becomes the chief minister again," he said.
Asked whether the party would introspect on its dismal performance, Varma said Jan Suraaj would &ldquo;review its shortcomings&rdquo; even though its "vision and efforts had no flaw." "The results are disappointing, no doubt. We will now analyse what needs to be done next," he added.
On speculation that Prashant Kishor might leave Bihar after the electoral setback, Varma dismissed the idea. "Whether he stays or goes is his personal decision. But he cannot leave Bihar, nor can Bihar leave him. Once the complete results are out, he will share his response on the future course," he added.

Bihar awaits Friday&rsquo;s assembly vote counting, which will determine whether JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar secures a record fifth term or a change in government occurs. Over 7 crore voters participated across 243 seats.

People of Bihar wait with bated breath for Friday's counting of votes polled in the recent assembly elections, which will decide whether JD(U) supremo Nitish Kumar, the state's longest-serving chief minister, will get a record fifth term or whether a change in government will be witnessed.
Bihar registered a historic voter turnout of 67.13 per cent in the elections to the 243-member assembly in two phases on November 6 and 11.
Counting of votes will begin at 8 am, and the trends and results are likely to start trickling in by 9 am. A total of 46 counting centres have been enumerated by the Election Commission across 38 districts in the state. A total of 7.45 crore voters were eligible to decide the electoral fate of 2,616 candidates.
According to a statement issued by the EC on Wednesday, EVMs and VVPATs used in the elections have been sealed inside the strong rooms under a double-lock system. "Under the presence of central observers and agents deputed by candidates, the entire process will be videographed," the statement said.
Two-tier security has been ensured at the counting centres. "While the inner tier has been assigned to central armed paramilitary forces (CAPFs), state police have been deployed at the outer rung. Also, 24/7 CCTV surveillance and other security provisions have been put in place," the statement said.
A control room has been set up within every strong room campus, which will be staffed with senior district officials. All district election officers and returning officers of the assembly constituencies concerned have been directed to frequently inspect the strong rooms.
Exit polls have been nearly unanimous in predicting a clean sweep for the NDA, of which the JD(U) is a part, much to the annoyance of the opposition INDIA bloc. Tejashwi Yadav, the young RJD leader whom the opposition coalition has named its chief ministerial candidate, rubbished these predictions and claimed Mahagathbandhan would form the government with a thumping majority.
The NDA in Bihar comprises five parties, though a bulk of seats, in the 243-strong assembly, were contested by JD(U) and BJP, both of which fielded candidates in 101 constituencies each. The INDIA bloc includes RJD, Congress, CPI(ML) Liberation, other Left parties, and Vikasheel Insaan Party (VIP).
Prominent candidates of both alliances who are in the fray include Deputy Chief Ministers Samart Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, RJD's Tejashwi Yadav, JJD's Tej Pratap and Bihar Congress president Rajesh Kumar.

Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor on Wednesday announced that he will not contest the Bihar assembly polls, a decision, he claimed, was taken by the party for its greater good.
In an exclusive interview with PTI, the former political strategist also said that a "tally of less than 150 seats" for Jan Suraaj will be considered a defeat.
"If Jan Suraaj Party wins the Bihar polls, it will have a nationwide impact. The compass of national politics will point in a different direction," Kishor asserted.
The Bihar polls will be held in two phases, on November 6 and November 11, and the counting will take place on November 14.
"The party has decided that I should not contest the assembly polls. And therefore, the party has announced another candidate from Raghopur, against Tejashwi Yadav. It was a decision we took in the larger interest of the party. If I were to contest, it would have distracted me from the necessary organisational work", Kishor said.
Asked what he thought of his party&rsquo;s prospects in the elections, the 48-year-old leader said, "I can say with certainty that we will be either win handsomely or receive a drubbing. I have been stating on record that I expect a tally of either fewer than 10 seats or more than 150 seats. There is no possibility of anything in between".
He made the averment when asked whether his party would like to support the NDA or the INDIA bloc if the elections threw a hung assembly, terming a fractured mandate as an impossibility.
He, however, added, "A tally less than 150, even if it is 120 or 130, shall be a defeat for me. If we do well, we will have the mandate to transform Bihar and make it count among the 10 most advanced states of the country. If we do not do well enough, it would mean the people have not shown enough confidence in us, and we must continue to carry on with our politics of the street and society (samaj aur sadak ki rajneeti)".&nbsp;

Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor, who was on a fast unto death at Gandhi Maidan here to press the demand for cancellation of a Bihar PSC exam, was arrested early on Monday, police said.
Police personnel removed him and his supporters from the protest site as they were holding the demonstration near a restricted area, and thus it was "illegal", a senior officer said.
Kishor was arrested on the fifth day of his fast-unto-death protest over an alleged question paper leak in the December 13 examination conducted by Bihar PSC.
According to Jan Suraaj party's supporters, the police took Kishor to Patna AIIMS for a medical examination.
Talking to PTI, Patna District Magistrate (DM) Chandrashekhar Singh said, "Yes, Kishor and his supporters, who were sitting on a dharna at Gandhi Maidan, were arrested by the police on Monday morning. They will now be produced before a court."
Their demonstration was "illegal", he said, adding that they were holding the sit-in near the restricted site.
&ldquo;Despite repeated requests by the officials concerned, they did not leave the place. They had also been served notice by the district administration to shift their dharna to Gardani Bagh, the dedicated place for holding protests, in the state capital," the DM said.
The Patna Police had registered a case against Kishor for holding the fast unto death at Gandhi Maidan&rsquo;s restricted site, another official said.
The district administration also issued a statement, claiming that the "Kishor is absolutely fine".
Immediately after his arrest, the poll strategist-turned-politician was taken to Patna AIIMS for a medical check-up.
When Kishor was being taken out from the AIIMS in an ambulance, his supporters tried to block the road outside the hospital.
A "mild force was used to disperse Kishor&rsquo;s supporters who gathered outside AIIMS and tried to disrupt traffic movement", said a senior police officer.
Kishor began his fast unto death on January 2 in support of the civil service aspirants who have been demanding the cancellation of the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) examination held on December 13 last year.
However, the BPSC had ordered the retest for a select group of candidates who had appeared in the December 13 exam, which was embroiled over allegations of question paper leak.
The retest was held on January 4 at 22 centres here.
Of 12,012 candidates, around 8,111 aspirants had downloaded their admit cards for the re-exam.
However, 5,943 candidates appeared for the retest last week.
The retest was held peacefully at all centres without report of any misconduct and malpractice, the BPSC said in a statement issued on Saturday.

They are accused of organizing an unauthorized gathering, provoking unrest, and disrupting public order.
The police stated that the Jan Suraaj Party had conducted a protest march without the necessary approval and led demonstrators to Patna's Gandhi Maidan. The protest turned violent, with demonstrators damaging police loudspeakers and clashing with law enforcement and officials on duty. Despite multiple warnings from the authorities, the protesters ignored the instructions and caused a disturbance, said the police.
The protests were sparked by allegations of a paper leak in the 70th Combined Competitive Examination by the Bihar Public Service Commission. The students, seeking a re-test, gathered at Gandhi Maidan and marched towards JP Golambar, with the intention to meet Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. However, the police had to intervene, using batons and water cannons to disperse the crowd.
Prashant Kishor showed his full support for the students and participated in the protest march. He suggested that a delegation of students meet with the Chief Secretary to address their concerns, but the students insisted on meeting only the Chief Minister, which escalated the situation.
Earlier, Kishore had proposed holding a "Chhatra Sansad" at Gandhi Maidan on Gandhi Jayanti to discuss student issues and plan further actions, but the city administration denied permission for the event.
Kishor's Jan Suraaj Party, which officially rebranded as a political entity in October, plans to contest all seats in Bihar during the upcoming state elections. After spending two years traveling across the state, Kishor aimed to bring a fundamental shift to Bihar's politics, emphasizing issue-based discussions over the traditional practice of offering sops.

In an interview with NDTV, Kishor credited the BJP for shifting the election discourse to '400 paar' instead of just crossing the halfway mark in the Lower House.&nbsp;
"In the last three-four months, the discussion has centred around '370' and '400 paar'. Consider it a BJP strategy or Opposition's weakness, but the BJP has entirely shifted the goalpost from 272 to 370. This has benefitted the BJP. Now, no one is saying Modi ji will lose, they are saying they may not get 370 seats," Kishor said.
Voting for 543 seats of the Lok Sabha is being held in seven phases, with five of them already complete. The results will be declared on June 4.

Amid the ongoing intense battle between the NDA candidates and INDIA alliance candidates, Kishor suggested that for the BJP to lose power at the Centre, they would need to lose 100 seats in North and West India and fail to gain any in the East and South.&nbsp;
Explaining numbers and concept Kishor highlighted that the BJP has the most numbers of seats in North and West India, however, the party would not feel a huge dent from East and South states---ie, Bihar, West Bengal, Assam, Odisha, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala as the saffron party has less than 50 seats out of 240 Lok Sabha seats.
Further, Kishor explained that the BJP's current strength lies in its 260-270 seats from the North and West and that they could not lose power unless they faced a significant defeat in these regions.&nbsp;

I had been saying that he would not remain with the Mahagathbandhan ever since he had joined the combine,&rdquo; Kishor told reporters in Begusarai district. &ldquo;I make another prediction and you can catch me if I am proven wrong. The alliance that has been formed will not last till the assembly polls. In fact, it may come apart within a few months of the Lok Sabha polls,&rdquo; he said.
He said that the BJP might have run some permutations and combinations in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections that made them join hands with Kumar.
&nbsp;"Today&rsquo;s development proves that if Nitish is &lsquo;palturam&rsquo; (weathercock), Narendra Modi and Amit Shah are no different. The BJP seems to have made a calculation in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. But it will pay a huge price in the assembly polls due next year,&rdquo; Kishore said.
Kishor, who has professionally worked with PM Modi and the JD(U) supremo, said that the BJP would find it difficult to convince voters why it sided with Kumar despite having said that its doors were closed for him.
Nitish Kumar, on the other hand, told reporters after taking oath that he will remain the BJP.
"I was with them (NDA) earlier too. We went on different paths, but now we are together and will remain so. Today, eight people have taken oath as ministers, the rest will take oath soon. Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Sinha have been appointed as Deputy Chief Ministers," he said. &nbsp;

Days after Bihar CM Nitish Kumar said next Bihar Assembly elections will be fought under Tejashwi Yadav, poll strategist Prashant Kishor on Saturday said there is no need to wait till 2025 and Kumar should hand over the reins of the state to the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) scion.
Kishor also seemed to take a swipe at Nitish Kumar in reminding him it is the RJD and not the JD(U) that is the largest party in the state Assembly.
Kumar's JD(U) broke alliance with the BJP led NDA in August to form a new government in Bihar with Tejashwi Yadav who steered the RJD led 'grand alliance', to an impressive electoral performance in 2020 assembly polls.&nbsp;

The IPAC founder, who has been sceptical of a united opposition's efficacy in halting the Narendra Modi juggernaut, emphasised that one cannot defeat the BJP unless one understands what it is.

Political strategist turned activist Prashant Kishor on Sunday compared the BJP-RSS combine to a cup of coffee in which the party was like the frothy top and the parent body was the real thing underneath.
Kishor, who is on a 3,500 kilometres long "pada-yatra" in Bihar, came up with the colourful analogy at Lauria in West Champaran district which he has been covering on foot since October 2.
Kishor lamented that it took him long to realise that "the ideology of (Nathuram) Godse can be defeated only by reviving Gandhi&rsquo;s Congress" and "it would have been better had I worked in that direction instead of helping people like Nitish Kumar and Jagan Mohan Reddy realise their ambitions".
The IPAC founder, who has been sceptical of a united opposition's efficacy in halting the Narendra Modi juggernaut, emphasised that one cannot defeat the BJP unless one understands what it is.
"Have you ever looked at a cup of coffee? There is froth at the top. BJP is like that. Below that there is the deep structure of the RSS. The Sangh has wormed its way into the social fabric. It cannot now be beaten with shortcuts," said Kishor.
The political strategist's first claim to fame was his handling of Modi's poll campaign in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, a spectacular success that helped the BJP get a majority on its own.

Kishor also continued to hurl barbs at Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, whose JD(U) has been calling him a "BJP agent".
"I was the JD(U) national vice president when the nation was on the boil against CAA-NPR-NRC. I was appalled to learn that MPs of my party had voted in favour of the Citizenship Amendment Bill in Parliament," recalled the 45-year-old, often perceived to be as ideologically agnostic.
"I confronted Nitish Kumar, who was then our national president. He claimed he was away on a tour and not aware of the development but glibly assured me that he will not allow NRC in Bihar. The duplicity made me realise I cannot work with this man," said Kishor who was expelled from JD(U) over the spat with Kumar.
Kishor, whose much-anticipated entry into the Congress could not fructify last year despite meetings with its top leaders, hinted that he still admired the organisation but in its old avatar under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi.
"Godse's ideology can be defeated only by reviving the Congress of Gandhi," said Kishor, in an oblique reference to alleged RSS links of the Mahatma's assassin.

Kumar keeps uttering things which have no meaning, the founder of political consultancy firm I-PAC claimed.

This has left him fearful and in trepidation he keeps saying things that have no meaning," added Kishor, who has been critical of the JD(U) leader’s frequent change of alliance partners.

"Nitish Kumar must be the only educated person around to have said people like me do not know ABC. He knows from A to Z. He should share the knowledge with NITI Aayog which keeps counting Bihar among the least-developed states," the IPAC founder said, tongue in cheek.
Kishor also said that if Kumar was able to deliver on his promise of creating 10 lakh jobs, which he made after ruling the state for 17 years, he would acknowledge that the CM was no less than God.
The celebrated former strategist also sought to make light of the buzz around Kumar’s recent Delhi visit, which is being touted as an important step in opposition unity.
"All chief ministers meet other leaders when they visit Delhi. Mamata has done that. So has KCR. Nothing new has been achieved through Nitish Kumar," said Kishor who has worked with CMs of West Bengal and Telangana in professional capacity.
Kishor, who had collaborated with Kumar during 2015 assembly polls and was inducted into the JD(U) two years later, only to be ousted in 2020, maintained that Bihar's upheaval was "state-specific" and unlikely to have repercussions on the national level.
